Title: Director of Projects

Date: October 20, 2026

Status: Full Time – Exempt – Hybrid

Reports to: Vice President of Operations

Direct Reports: 2 Project Managers, 3 Project Coordinators, 4 Project Technicians

Location: Nashville, TN office – minimum 3 days per week in office

Travel: Up to 15% (trainings and escalations)

Job Summary

The Director of Projects leads Technology Lab’s Projects department, a team of 10 project managers, coordinators, and technicians delivering new client onboardings, client offboardings, and network and systems projects for K-12 schools. This leader owns the department end to end: developing the team, allocating limited resources across competing priorities, serving as the final technical review on project scopes, and building the processes and KPIs that let Projects scale with the company’s growth.

This position requires real systems depth, executive presence with clients, and the judgment to make decisions without every detail spelled out.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

• Develop every position on the team, with particular focus on mentoring the systems side.

• Coach skills, not only tasks, and build a sense of urgency so small problems are handled early.

• Allocate and reprioritize team resources as new projects land.

Scoping & Delivery Quality

• Serve as the final technical review before a scope goes to Sales; identify red flags in complex school environments and resolve them without escalating to the VP of Service or a Tier 3 engineer.

• Raise the quality and consistency of project plans, documentation, and client-facing updates.

• Personally lead sensitive or high-visibility work, such as client offboardings.

Process & Performance

• Improve or rebuild department processes, including scoping, with full autonomy to do either.

• Build and report a KPI set that goes beyond pass/fail scope and revenue.

• Plan ahead for the year with appropriate staffing in place.

Clients & Cross-Team Partnership

• Provide executive presence with school leaders.

• Partner with the Service team so onboardings are handed off complete and new schools start fully supported.

• Contribute to organizational success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, and striving to improve team results.

Requirements and Qualifications

• MSP leadership experience over a projects or professional services team, including project managers, coordinators, and technical staff.

• Experience at an MSP through a significant period of growth and scaling complexity.

• Clear understanding of the difference between onboarding work and project work, and how to identify gaps in each.

• Demonstrated executive presence with clients during escalations.

• Strong systems-side technical depth: email platforms, server and email migrations, and complex multi-tool environments.

• Ability and willingness to learn the back end of the PSA to find answers and unblock work.

• Must live in the Nashville area; additional on-site time is expected during the first 90 days to 6 months.

Preferred

• Network experience.

• K-12 or education-sector experience (MSP experience is weighted more heavily).
