Director of Public Policy, UAE/Middle East

Role Description The Director of Public Policy, UAE/Middle East will lead the development and implementation of public policy strategies that advance IDSC’s mission across the UAE and wider Middle East region. This part-time remote role involves monitoring regulatory and legislative developments, assessing their impact on investors, and advising IDSC leadership on strategic responses. The Director will build and maintain relationships with government bodies, regulators, investment authorities, and industry organizations to foster constructive dialogue and cooperation. Daily tasks include drafting policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy materials; coordinating input to consultations; and representing IDSC in virtual meetings, regional forums, and multi-stakeholder discussions. The Director will also collaborate with internal teams to align policy initiatives with mediation, advisory, and training services and to support outreach activities targeting investors and policymakers.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in governmental affairs and government relations, including experience engaging with ministries, regulators, and investment authorities in the UAE and Middle East.
• Proficiency in lobbying and legislative relations, with a track record of influencing policy outcomes and navigating complex stakeholder environments.
• Strong understanding of legislation, regulatory frameworks, and policy development processes relevant to investment, dispute resolution, and cross-border commerce.
• Advanced skills in policy analysis, research, and drafting clear, evidence-based briefs, reports, and advocacy documents.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with capacity to work collaboratively across cultures and disciplines in a fully remote setting.
• Relevant academic background in law, public policy, international relations, economics, or a related field; advanced degree is an asset.
• Experience in international dispute resolution, mediation, or investment protection is highly desirable.
• Fluency in English; Arabic language skills and familiarity with regional legal and regulatory systems are strong advantages.
