Director of Public Relations (all genders)

As PR Director, you will shape how VAVE is seen, understood and talked about worldwide. You will own brand communication across the group – from our studios in Germany and China to our projects in West Asia – and translate our design teams' work into stories that reach the right audiences at the right moment. Leading a team of 3+ across time zones and cultures, and working closely with our management board, Business Development team, and the General Managers of our subsidiaries, you will build the voice, the network, and the visibility that carry our ideas beyond the studio.

Ideally, you are based in Dubai; however, as this is a remote-first position, we are also open to applicants who are located close to our offices in Frankfurt, Shenzhen, and Shanghai.

Responsibilities

• Strategy & positioning: Build, own, and execute VAVE's brand communication and PR strategy across the group, developed together with the management board and BD team and aligned with our business goals and cultural identity. Communicate our ideas, values and design approach to target audiences, and place our projects within current discourses.
• Media relations: Grow and maintain our international network of media contacts, platforms, partners and representatives across Europe, China and West Asia.
• PR planning: Plan all PR activities strategically across channels, offices and markets, and pitch them persuasively at every touchpoint.
• Content & channels: Supervise the team's output on our website, online portals, and social channels, including press releases, project descriptions, social media, and set the guidelines that keep it compelling and true to our tone of voice (LinkedIn, Instagram, WeChat, Xiaohongshu, and others).
• Awards & documentation: Manage submissions to leading international design awards, and organise project documentation – pho to and video shoots, interviews – including briefing and managing photographers, filmmakers and writers.
• Representation: Act as a confident ambassador for VAVE online and offline, internally and externally.
• Measurement & budget: Track and improve workflow, output and impact, report results and recommendations to the board, and control all PR expenditure.

Qualifications and Skills

• Outstanding writing, editing and storytelling in English, with the range to adapt tone across markets, formats and channels (German and/or Chinese strongly desired; Arabic a plus)
• 5+ years in PR or brand communications, ideally in a creative consultancy, design or architectural environment
• University degree in communication, journalism, PR, marketing, cultural studies or a related field
• Strong strategic thinking, leadership and cross-cultural communication skills, with experience working in an international group
• Hands-on social media experience across both international and Chinese platforms
• A confident editorial eye for imagery, layout and visual content
• Exceptional organisation to run parallel campaigns, markets and deadlines; confident with Keynote and PowerPoint
• Up to date on cultural trends in brand communication, exhibition design, technology and global social movements
• Able to partially cover both China and Europe time zones
