AMI is seeking a strategic Director of Revenue Cycle to lead revenue cycle operations, strengthen financial performance, improve processes, and support a high-quality patient financial experience across our growing multi-site outpatient radiology practice.
The ideal candidate is an experienced healthcare/radiology revenue cycle leader and change agent with strong analytical skills, operational judgment, and the ability to lead teams and improve performance in a multi-site environment. This individual will bring a data- and KPI-driven approach to decision-making, using performance insights to establish priorities, measure outcomes, and drive accountability. This role will champion change across the organization by leading process improvements, technology implementation, and strategic initiatives that strengthen revenue cycle performance and maintains engagement of team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads professional and technical revenue cycle operations, including workflows, team performance, financial objectives, and process improvement.
- Functions as a change agent, leading process improvements, technology implementations, and organizational initiatives while engaging stakeholders and supporting teams through change.
- Oversees charge capture, coding, claims, accounts receivable, denial management, payment posting, patient financial services, revenue integrity, and credit balance resolution.
- Uses reporting and analytics to monitor performance, identify trends, reduce denials, improve collections, accelerate reimbursement, and strengthen cash flow.
- Leads, coaches, and develops the internal Accounts Receivable team while promoting accountability, quality, and timely performance.
- Partners with Operations, Clinical Leadership, Finance, Compliance, IT, and the outsourced billing partner to support accurate documentation, authorization handoffs, billing compliance, and reimbursement accuracy.
- Serves as the primary operational liaison with the outsourced billing partner to address payer issues, workflow gaps, denial trends, reimbursement delays, and improvement opportunities.
- Ensures compliance with payer requirements, Medicare regulations, coding guidelines, documentation standards, refund requirements, timely filing rules, and organizational policies.
- Leads cross-functional initiatives, workflow redesign, technology and automation implementations, practice integrations, new service launches, and other revenue cycle optimization efforts.
- Communicates effectively and continuously educates to engage AMI team members in the revenue cycle functions and impacts at AMI.
This is a full time, salaried position. Remote, hybrid, and on-site options are available. Candidates must be able to maintain a work schedule based on EST (NJ).
Qualifications
Qualified candidates have at least three years of progressive healthcare revenue cycle experience; outpatient radiology, imaging services, physician practice management, or specialty healthcare experience. Knowledge and experience with radiology-specific revenue cycle processes and functions is necessary for success in this role. Leadership experience managing revenue cycle teams, vendor relationships, or revenue cycle operations is required.
A bachelor’s degree is preferred; an MBA, master’s degree, or relevant certifications, is strongly preferred. Candidates should bring strong knowledge of accounts receivable management, insurance collections, denials and appeals, underpayments, credit balances, refunds, payer requirements, Medicare regulations, coding guidelines, billing compliance, and healthcare privacy expectations. Candidates must have strong analytical skills with a data & KPI driven approach to decision making and measuring outcomes.
Demonstrated change management skills are essential to successfully lead process improvements, technology implementations, and organizational initiatives while engaging stakeholders and supporting teams through change.
The successful candidate is a collaborative, accountable leader with exceptional communication skills and the ability to coach staff, manage performance, build relationships, and drive results in a high-volume healthcare revenue cycle environment.
