Job Description

This is a remote position.

Director of Revenue

Baltimore, MD | $160,000–$190,000 Annually | Full-Time | Remote with Periodic Travel to Baltimore

About the Organization

Atlantic Health Strategies is recruiting on behalf of a specialized revenue cycle management (RCM) organization that partners with behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment providers to optimize financial performance and streamline administrative operations.

The organization provides comprehensive revenue cycle solutions, including medical billing, claims management, utilization review, provider credentialing, and reimbursement optimization. Its services support behavioral health organizations across multiple levels of care, including residential treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and traditional outpatient services.

With a focus on operational efficiency, transparency, and financial sustainability, the organization helps treatment providers navigate complex reimbursement processes, improve collections, and strengthen their overall financial performance.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Director of Revenue to lead revenue cycle operations for a growing organization serving multiple healthcare clients, with a particular focus on behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment services.

This position requires a strong combination of comprehensive revenue cycle expertise, client relationship management, and effective team leadership. The ideal candidate understands the complexities of third-party RCM services, can confidently represent the organization in client-facing discussions, and brings a hands-on, process-oriented approach to managing and improving revenue cycle performance.

This is a full-time leadership opportunity with remote flexibility for candidates able to maintain Eastern Time business hours and travel periodically to Baltimore, Maryland.

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across revenue cycle functions, including medical billing, claims submission, payment posting, accounts receivable, collections, denial management, appeals, and reimbursement optimization.

  • Oversee revenue cycle services for multiple healthcare client organizations, ensuring consistent performance, accountability, and responsiveness to individual client needs.

  • Serve as a primary client-facing leader, conducting recurring performance meetings with client executives and stakeholders to review financial results, address concerns, communicate operational challenges, and implement corrective action plans.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically distributed revenue cycle team, establishing clear expectations, standardized workflows, performance accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, including denial rates, days in accounts receivable, clean claim rates, reimbursement trends, and collections, using data to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Collaborate with billing, utilization review, credentialing, and operational teams to resolve reimbursement barriers, improve payer processes, and ensure compliance with applicable healthcare billing requirements.

  • Maintain sufficient hands-on knowledge of daily revenue cycle functions to troubleshoot complex issues, support staff during operational challenges, and assist directly with critical workflows when necessary.

Requirements

Required

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, utilization management, or related healthcare operations, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.

  • Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end healthcare revenue cycle operations, including billing, claims management, accounts receivable, collections, denial management, utilization review, insurance authorizations, and appeals.

  • Demonstrated experience leading revenue cycle teams, supervising managers or department leaders, and implementing operational improvements that strengthen financial performance.

  • Experience overseeing revenue cycle performance across multiple healthcare facilities, organizations, or client accounts, with the ability to communicate effectively with executive-level stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of Medicaid and commercial insurance reimbursement, payer requirements, authorization processes, and healthcare revenue cycle performance metrics.

  • Ability to effectively manage a remote team, maintain availability during standard Eastern Time business hours (approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET), and travel periodically to Baltimore, Maryland, as business needs require.

Preferred

  • Previous leadership experience within a third-party revenue cycle management company, including responsibility for multiple external healthcare clients.

  • Experience overseeing billing, utilization review, and reimbursement operations for behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment organizations.

  • Familiarity with ASAM levels of care, including withdrawal management (detoxification), residential treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) services.

  • Experience managing client relationships, leading recurring revenue cycle performance meetings, and presenting financial and operational results to client executives.

  • Experience with Kipu, Alleva, CollaborateMD, or comparable healthcare management and billing platforms.

  • Knowledge of multi-state Medicaid programs, managed care organizations, and behavioral healthcare reimbursement requirements.

Benefits

Benefits and Compensation

  • $160,000–$190,000 annually, commensurate with experience and education.

  • Full-time leadership opportunity with an established healthcare revenue cycle management organization.

  • Remote work flexibility with periodic travel to Baltimore, Maryland.
