DIRECTOR OF SUPPLY PLANNING AND INVENTORY
ABOUT FISHWIFE
Fishwife is a woman-founded and led food company aiming to make ethically-sourced, premium, and delicious tinned seafood a staple in every cupboard. We source from responsibly managed fisheries and aquaculture farms to bring the vibrance of conservas culture to the North American table. We launched in December 2020 and have been feature by publications like The New York Times, Bon Appetit, Forbes, Vogue, LA Times, INSIDER, and many more.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Fishwife is growing quickly across wholesale, club, Amazon, e-commerce, and independent retail, and our inventory moves through a global network of canneries and co-manufacturers into distribution across the United States. We are creating the Inventory & Reporting Director role to lead the planning function that connects what we sell to what we make, and to turn our operating data into the decisions that keep us in stock, protect cash, and grow margin.
This is a leadership role, not a hands-on planning seat. You will lead a team of two, a Supply Planner who owns the supply plan and every purchase order, and an Inventory Analyst who owns inventory accuracy, allocations, and recurring reporting. Your job is to set the policy, run the process, make the calls, and build the team and systems that let Fishwife operate at several times its current scale.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Inventory & Reporting Director runs our monthly S&OP process and is accountable for the supply and inventory plan, in-stock performance, inventory investment, and Operations reporting. You will reconcile the demand plan from Sales with the supply plan your team builds, decide how we resolve the gaps, and give leadership a clear, trusted view of operational performance.
This position is a full-time, fully remote role reporting to the Head of Supply Chain.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
S&OP & Planning Leadership
- Run the monthly S&OP process end to end including the executive decision meeting, creating an aligned commitment and forward-looking plan
- Reconcile the demand and supply plans to resolve gaps across inventory, capacity, and cash before they reach customers
- Set the coverage and safety stock policy the supply plan is built on, and approve major buy decisions and inventory commitments with canneries and co-manufacturers
- Partner with sales to serve as the Operations decision-maker on pipe fills, promotions, launches, and new customer opportunities, with the tradeoffs stated plainly
- Escalate structural risks, such as capacity constraints, supplier concentration, and long lead times, to other departments and leadership with recommended solutions
Inventory Performance & Operating Cadence
- Own inventory policy, including weeks-of-cover targets, allocation rules and protected accounts, launch builds, and the treatment of aged and slow-moving inventory
- Accountable to the department's KPI framework, in-stock rate, weeks of coverage, inventory turns, aged inventory, and supplier on-time, in-full performance, and hold the team and our partners accountable as well
- Partner with Finance on inventory valuation, month-end close sign-off, purchase commitments, and cash flow planning
- Design the function's operating cadence, SOPs, and handoffs with Sales demand planning, Procurement, Fulfillment & Logistics, and Quality
- Lead, coach, and develop the Supply Planner and Inventory Analyst, and plan the team's structure as volume, SKU count, and channel complexity grow
Data Accuracy, Systems & Reporting Platforms
- Own data accuracy in Cin7, our ERP and system of record for inventory, purchase orders, and sale orders, with clear standards for item setup, BOMs, and transactions
- Own the integrations that feed the ERP, including 3PL, WMS, EDI (SPS Commerce), Shopify, and Amazon, and resolve root causes when records fall out of sync
- Own and develop the reporting platforms and dashboards the company uses to see inventory, supply, and operational performance, so every team works from one trusted source of data
- Set the systems and data roadmap for planning and reporting, and direct the move from manual spreadsheets to automated reporting that your team builds and maintains
- Run regular audits of system records against physical counts, receipts, and invoices, and close gaps before they reach the financials
REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of experience in supply planning, inventory management, or supply chain analytics, ideally in CPG food and beverage
- 3+ years of leading planners or analysts, with a record of developing people and knowing when to coach and when to step in
- Proven ownership of an S&OP or IBP process, including facilitating decisions among senior stakeholders across Sales, Finance, and Operations
- Experience setting inventory policy and managing to in-stock and inventory investment targets across multiple channels, including retail, club, Amazon, and direct-to-consumer
- Experience managing supply through co-manufacturers, including imported goods with long and variable lead times
- Strong command of planning math and ERP data (Cin7, NetSuite, or similar), enough to challenge a plan and trace a discrepancy to its root cause
- Experience owning ERP data integrity, system integrations, and the reporting platforms or dashboards a company relies on
- Clear, persuasive communication with executives and external partners, in writing and in the room
- An owner's mindset and comfort building structure inside a fast-growing, evolving company
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience building automated reporting with BI and data tools (SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar)
- Experience with shelf-stable, specialty food, or seafood products
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification
- Experience at a high-growth brand through a period of rapid scale
