About the Role
Energize Marketing is seeking a freelance Director, Online Events and Production to lead our growing online events division. Your initial focus will be customer webinars through TechTalks™, our award-winning B2B webinar brand, and launching our new podcast offering for B2B brands. You’ll also launch corporate and editorial webinars and podcasts for Energize Marketing and our brands, including TechChannels.
You’ll lead the growth and evolution of TechTalks as a B2B media brand and business division, building on our established webinar offering while developing podcasts, original programming and new formats. Working with Marketing, Editorial and Sales, you’ll strengthen its market presence, grow its audience and identify opportunities to expand client relationships and revenue. You’ll help set priorities and track performance while owning the creative and production experience that makes our programs stand out.
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on leader who knows what great programming looks and sounds like—and how to deliver it. You’ll confidently lead customer calls, explain our offerings and recommend the right format and production approach for each program’s objectives.
You’ll turn business priorities and subject matter expert (SME) insights into compelling topics and conversations, guiding customers, speakers and creative partners from planning through recording, postproduction, final approval and publication. You’ll own communications, schedules and quality, run Zoom recordings and direct specialist editors, designers and animators to ensure every program is polished and ready for its audience.
This is an opportunity to shape a growing, strategically important division. Bring your ideas, spot what needs improving and make it happen—building strong programs, reliable workflows and a client experience that brings customers back.
What You Will Own
Program Management and Client Communications
- Lead webinar and podcast programs for B2B brands across technology, cybersecurity, fintech and related markets, working directly with customers and their agencies from kickoff through final delivery.
- Own planning calls, schedules, communications, feedback and approvals. Keep clients, speakers and production partners informed, prepared and clear on next steps.
- Align internal teams and freelance specialists around clear briefs, responsibilities and deadlines. Anticipate issues, resolve gaps and communicate changes early.
- Manage scope, production budgets and resources across standalone programs and integrated campaigns.
- Coordinate with Marketing, Delivery and Customer Success to meet agreed audience targeting, qualification, lead volume and delivery commitments.
Client Planning and Creative Direction
- Lead planning conversations that uncover client priorities, draw out SME expertise and identify what audiences want to learn.
- Recommend topics, formats, speakers and discussion approaches that connect business objectives with audience interests.
- Develop programming and discussion guides with Editorial, Research and moderators, incorporating proprietary survey findings where relevant.
- Coach speakers on structure, storytelling and presentation to create focused, engaging conversations.
- Grow our network of moderators, hosts, speakers and production specialists, matching expertise and style to each program.
Webinar Production and Quality
- Customer webinars: Bring B2B expertise to life through TechTalks, producing engaging prerecorded webinars featuring senior executives, industry experts, analysts and panelists. Guide each program from speaker preparation and rehearsals through recording, postproduction, quality checks and final approvals.
- Energize Marketing webinars: Shape, launch and produce corporate and editorial webinars across our brands, partnering with Marketing and Editorial to develop timely topics, strong speaker lineups and compelling formats that showcase our expertise and build audience engagement.
- Run Zoom recordings, guide speakers on presentation and technical setup, and troubleshoot issues.
- Direct editors, designers and animators, giving clear feedback on audio, visuals, pacing and the viewer experience.
- Build repeatable workflows that uphold our production standards and deliver finished recordings and supporting assets to the agreed brief.
Podcast Development and Production
- Customer podcasts: Help shape and launch our new podcast offering for B2B brands, developing compelling formats—from interviews with senior executives and industry experts to analyst conversations and panel discussions—that connect customer objectives with audience interests.
- Energize Marketing podcasts: Help shape, launch and produce podcast shows and recurring series that showcase our B2B marketing and account-based marketing (ABM) expertise and engage the audiences we serve. Partner with Marketing and Editorial to develop concepts, topics and guest lineups, and manage production through publication.
- Own production calendars, guest booking, preparation, recording and postproduction.
- Guide hosts and guests toward compelling conversations, direct editing and oversee final quality checks.
- Deliver finished episodes and supporting promotional assets for publication.
Brand Growth and Event Promotion
- Help shape TechTalks’ positioning and programming, developing opportunities for recurring series, live and hybrid events, virtual conferences and other formats.
- Partner with Marketing to promote customer and Energize Marketing programs, build returning audiences and grow engagement across relevant communities and channels.
- Support Sales with client conversations, proposals and format recommendations.
- Use client feedback and audience performance to strengthen programming, grow engagement and encourage repeat business.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of relevant experience at a media company, digital publisher, agency or B2B marketing team, with a proven track record of leading webinars, podcasts or online events from planning through delivery.m.
- Strong client management experience, including planning calls, communications and approvals, and the judgment to turn business objectives and SME expertise into engaging programs.
- Hands-on knowledge of prerecorded webinar production and Zoom, including speaker preparation, recording and troubleshooting.
- Technical confidence and a discerning eye for audio, visuals, pacing and the viewer experience.
- Experience directing freelance creative partners and managing production schedules, budgets and quality.
- Practical podcast production experience, including guest coordination, recording and postproduction.
- Understanding of B2B demand generation and account-based marketing, with experience coordinating teams to meet audience and campaign commitments.
- Experience promoting programs and developing audiences.
- Strong organization, sound judgment and the initiative to move work forward independently while keeping clients and colleagues informed.
- Availability for scheduled client calls, speaker rehearsals and recordings during agreed U.S. business hours.
Video editing skills, an established speaker network, familiarity with technology, cybersecurity or fintech audiences, and experience delivering live, hybrid or virtual conference programs are additional strengths.
Relevant education or training in media production, communications, journalism, marketing or a related field is welcome; equivalent professional experience is equally valued. We welcome diverse career paths—demonstrated capabilities matter more than a specific degree or previous job title.
What Success Looks Like
- Engaging, polished programs delivered on schedule, within scope and budget, with audience and campaign commitments met.
- Clients and speakers who feel prepared and supported, backed by coordinated teams and production partners.
- Successful launches of our customer podcast offering and Energize Marketing’s own programming, supported by reliable production and publishing calendars.
- Stronger audience engagement and repeat business, informed by client feedback, performance insights and fresh ideas.
