PMI US is seeking a Senior Manager / Director, U.S. Payroll to lead accurate, timely and compliant payroll and time operations for approximately 3,500 employees across 48 states. This hands-on leader manages a five-person team, 16 biweekly and 2 weekly payrolls, and ADP governance.

Your day to day:

  • Own payroll readiness, balancing, variance review, approvals, funding, reconciliation, exceptions and issue resolution.
  • Lead and develop the payroll team, ensuring clear ownership of processing, time administration, compliance and controls.
  • Oversee retroactive and off-cycle pay, incentives, equity inputs, terminations, leaves, garnishments, deductions and adjustments.
  • Provide expertise on federal, state and local payroll, wage, tax, overtime, final-pay and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Govern time and attendance processes and partner with Employment Tax on setup, notices, corrections and quarter/year-end activities.
  • Maintain strong payroll controls, including approvals, reconciliations, access, exception management and audit evidence.
  • Partner with Finance on funding, general ledger interfaces, accruals, reconciliations and accounting differences.
  • Manage ADP service levels, cases, defects, releases, interfaces and testing, driving recurring issues to resolution.
  • Resolve pay issues quickly and communicate material payroll, compliance, control and vendor risks to key partners and leadership.

Who we're looking for:

  • 8-12+ years of progressive U.S. payroll experience, including leadership of complex, multi-state operations.
  • Experience supporting a sizable, dispersed workforce with multiple pay groups or legal entities and complex earnings, deductions or time rules.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. payroll administration and federal, state and local requirements.
  • Strong ADP and vendor governance experience. Experience with integrated HR, time and finance systems preferred.
  • Experience in audit- and controls-intensive environments, including reconciliations, access controls and remediation.
  • Strong people leadership, analytical judgment, payroll balancing, variance analysis and root-cause problem solving.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Certified Payroll Professional preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Annual Base Salary Range: $160,000-$200,000

Leveling Guidance:
  • Senior Manager: Leads day-to-day execution, team performance, compliance, controls and vendor delivery.
  • Director: Enterprise authority for U.S. payroll strategy, risk, governance, major transformation and material decisions.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary and level-based bonus; medical, dental and vision coverage; 401(k) company match; wellness, commuter and pet benefits; and paid time off.
  • Smart Work, PMI's hybrid working model.
  • An inclusive culture, development opportunities and the freedom to shape your future.
