Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director Product Management - Digital (Sales & Service Platforms)!

About the role

In this role, you will lead product management across our Sales & Service Platforms portfolio, driving strategy, governance, and execution to deliver consistent product management practices and measurable business outcomes. This role supports a set of horizontal capabilities (e.g., CRM, Contact Center Technology) that enable and serve all business divisions across the enterprise. You will translate business strategy into portfolio direction, investment focus, and execution expectations across multiple products.

You will ensure product strategies and investments are grounded in customer needs, working with senior leaders and cross-functional partners to drive alignment. You will use performance insights to guide decisions, and continuous improvement, ensuring teams are aligned, resourced, and delivering outcomes at scale against strategic objectives.

What you will do:

Portfolio Strategy & Execution

  • Lead strategy for the portfolio, translating business goals into product priorities, investments, and execution plans
  • Ensure product strategies are grounded in customer needs and deliver measurable business outcomes
  • Align product investments with business strategy and funding priorities
  • Lead portfolio reviews and adjust priorities and direction based on performance insights
  • Oversee execution across product teams to ensure delivery of expected outcomes

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead alignment across product, engineering, operations, and business teams
  • Coordinate initiatives, dependencies, and resource tradeoffs across the portfolio
  • Drive resolution of cross-team risks and competing priorities
  • Lead efforts to improve operating models and delivery effectiveness

Stakeholder Leadership

  • Partner with senior stakeholders to align on strategy, priorities, and performance
  • Communicate portfolio direction, risks, and outcomes clearly
  • Represent product strategy in strategic and operational discussions
  • Oversee relationships with key external partners and vendors

Team & Capability Leadership

  • Lead and develop Product Managers and Product Owners
  • Strengthen product management practices across teams
  • Promote innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 12-15 years of experience in product management or related roles with increasing scope and responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience leading product strategy and execution across multiple products or a domain/portfolio
  • Strong ability to translate business strategy into product priorities, investments, and measurable outcomes
  • Experience working in Agile and cross-functional delivery environments required
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills
  • Experience managing complex initiatives, dependencies, and competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, including experience using data to guide strategy and prioritization
  • Experience in financial services and/or insurance preferred
  • Some travel required
