Our Story:
Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. (CPI) is the worldwide leader in evidence‑based de‑escalation and crisis prevention training and dementia care services. Our programs teach professionals the skills to recognize, prevent, and respond to crises in the workplace. Since 1980, we’ve helped train more than 17 million people across service‑oriented industries including education, health care, behavioral health, long‑term care, human services, security, corporate, and retail.
At CPI, we are dedicated to changing behaviors and reducing conflict for the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security of everyone. We believe empathy, meaningful connections, personal safety, and security are the antidotes to fear and anxiety. This philosophy is central to everything we do and traces back to our beginning.
As a member of the team, you can expect to:
  • Make a difference through your work — You’ll be proud to tell your family and friends what you do.
  • Gain significant career experience within a fast‑growing organization — From entry‑level roles to executive leadership.
  • Feel fulfilled and have fun — We work hard but make time to build meaningful relationships and celebrate wins.
The Role:
CPI is building a Product Management discipline that connects customer need, market opportunity, and business performance behind everything we build. The Director, Product Management – Healthcare & Human Services will own the day-to-day product strategy, roadmap, and commercial performance for CPI's Healthcare & Human Services portfolio — translating segment direction from the VP, Product Management into a prioritized plan of record, and leading the product managers who deliver it.
CPI's Healthcare & Human Services portfolio serves hospitals, behavioral health organizations, and human services agencies working to prevent and de-escalate workplace violence and crisis situations — often in high-acuity, highly regulated environments. This segment carries distinct buying dynamics, compliance requirements, and clinical stakeholders that a generalist roadmap can't serve well.
This is a role for someone who wants to own a real business, not just a backlog: build the case for what CPI invests in next, ship it, and be accountable for what it returns.
What You Get To Do Everyday:
Segment Product Strategy & Roadmap
  • Own the day-to-day product roadmap for Healthcare & Human Services, translating segment strategy into a prioritized, sequenced plan of record.
  • Bring a point of view on where the portfolio should go next — new capabilities, adjacent offerings, or where to pull back — grounded in customer and market evidence.
  • Represent Healthcare & Human Services in portfolio-level prioritization conversations with the VP, Product Management.
Product Economics & Commercial Performance
  • Build the business case for investment: market opportunity, customer demand, competitive dynamics, and financial return.
  • Own success measures for the segment — adoption, revenue, renewal, customer outcomes — and report on performance against them.
  • Partner with Finance, Marketing, and Sales on pricing, packaging, and commercialization for healthcare and human services offerings.
Customer & Market Insight
  • Stay close to healthcare and human services buyers and end users — compliance leaders, clinical educators, frontline staff — and the regulatory and accreditation pressures that shape their decisions.
  • Establish discovery and validation discipline before committing significant investment.
  • Track competitive alternatives and shifts in the behavioral health and human services market.
Cross-Functional Execution Leadership
  • Partner with Product Delivery, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success to move from roadmap to shipped, adopted product.
  • Bring a strong, evidence-backed recommendation into every prioritization conversation.
Lead & Develop the Team
  • Manage and coach product managers dedicated to Healthcare & Human Services — hiring, developing, and holding them accountable to outcomes, not just output.
  • Coach PMs to operate as business owners: naming the customer, the problem, and the commercial case behind every roadmap item.
You Need to Have:
  • 8+ years of Product Management experience, including 3+ years leading and developing other product managers.
  • A track record of owning a product roadmap end-to-end, including commercial accountability for adoption, revenue, or retention.
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, human services, or another regulated/compliance-driven market — you understand how clinical, compliance, and procurement stakeholders differ from a typical buyer.
  • Strong financial acumen: business case development, forecasting, and pricing/packaging decisions.
  • The ability to influence and align cross-functional partners without relying on org-chart authority.
  • Clear, confident communication — able to bring a recommendation into the room, not just options.
What We Offer:
  • Comprehensive compensation package
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 401k
  • PTO
  • Health & Wellness Days
  • Paid Volunteer Time Off
  • Continuing education and training
  • Hybrid / Remote work schedule
  • Paid Parental Leave
