Job Summary
Leads the Operational Excellence Consultant team of 2-3 for Veradigm Revenue Cycle Services and carries a personal engagement load alongside the team. Owns client facing solution design across the full client lifecycle, from pre-sales discovery and proposal targeting through implementation discovery, activation support, and escalation resolution. Serves as the senior solution voice with prospect and client executives, translating practice operations and revenue cycle requirements into accurate scope, a defensible proposal, and a workable activation plan. Accountable for scoping accuracy at the point of sale and for solution stability through the first months of production. Requires heavy domestic travel to prospect and client sites.
Job Responsibilities
- Leads discovery with prospective clients to document current state revenue cycle operations, system configuration, staffing model, specialty mix, and payer mix. Converts findings into scope, stated assumptions, and the risks that must be priced.
- Partners with Sales on proposal targeting. Determines which service lines, staffing model, and pricing structure fit the opportunity, and states plainly where an opportunity does not fit the RCS delivery model.
- Owns the operational and solution content in proposals, orals, and client presentations. Serves as the senior solution voice in executive meetings with practice owners, administrators, and chief financial officers.
- Reviews deal terms that carry delivery risk, including performance guarantees, transition timelines, and work that sits outside the standard scope. Escalates terms that cannot be delivered as written before the contract is signed.
- Leads implementation discovery for contracted clients. Validates pre-sales assumptions against the client environment and documents every variance before build begins.
- Designs the future state workflow and system configuration across practice management, clearinghouse, and reporting, and delivers a complete design to the Implementation team.
- Supports Implementation through build, testing, and data validation. Resolves the configuration and workflow questions that would otherwise stall the schedule.
- Leads activation readiness and go-live support at client sites. Confirms that workflows, work queues, edits, and reporting operate as designed before volume moves to RCS.
- Monitors early production performance against the metrics committed at sale and drives correction of gaps identified in the first weeks of production.
- Confirms transition of the account to steady state operations, including documented configuration, open items, and named owners for each item that remains.
- Serves as the senior escalation resource for client reported solution and configuration issues across the RCS book of business.
- Leads on-site intervention for accounts with significant performance or relationship risk. Diagnoses root cause across workflow, configuration, staffing, and client-side process, and produces a remediation plan with named owners and dates.
- Routes recurring root causes to Product, Implementation, and Operations as defined change requests rather than repeated one-off fixes.
- Leads, hires, develops, and evaluates the Solutions Architect team. Sets account and territory coverage, balances team capacity against demand from Sales and Operations, and maintains coverage through peak activation periods.
- Carries a personal engagement load on the most complex and highest value opportunities and accounts and sets the standard for client interaction against which the team is measured.
- Builds and maintains the discovery toolkits, scoping templates, design documents, and activation checklists that make the work repeatable, so delivery quality does not depend on any single individual.
- Manages team travel and expense to budget while meeting on-site commitments across pre-sales, activation, and escalation demand.
Knowledge and Skills
- Deep knowledge of physician practice revenue cycle operations, including charge capture, coding, claim submission, denial management, accounts receivable follow up, and payment posting.
- Ability to assess a prospect or client operation quickly and identify the gaps that will determine whether an engagement succeeds.
- Skill in translating operational findings into scope, staffing assumptions, and pricing inputs that hold up after the contract is signed.
- Working knowledge of practice management and EHR platform configuration, including work queues, edits, fee schedules, and interface behavior.
- Understanding of clearinghouse operations, payer enrollment, eligibility verification, and remittance processing.
- Ability to design future state workflows that account for both Veradigm delivery capability and client side process.
- Command of revenue cycle metrics and reporting, including net collection rate, days in accounts receivable, denial rate, and clean claim rate.
- Executive presence, with the ability to hold a discovery or escalation conversation with a practice owner or chief financial officer and keep it productive.
- Ability to state scope, risk, and limitations plainly to a prospect without damaging the opportunity.
- Strong written communication, including discovery summaries, design documents, remediation plans, and executive readouts.
- Judgment to distinguish a configuration problem from a process problem from a staffing problem, and to route each to the correct owner.
- Ability to lead through influence across Sales, Implementation, Operations, and Product without direct authority over those functions.
- Leadership skill to hire, develop, and hold accountable a small team of senior client facing individual contributors.
- Ability to balance a personal engagement load against the demands of managing a team, and to make explicit tradeoffs when the two compete.
- Discipline to codify repeatable method into toolkits and templates rather than carrying knowledge personally.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA, and of the compliance boundaries that apply to outsourced revenue cycle work.
- Ability to work under a sustained travel schedule and maintain quality and responsiveness while on the road.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to work directly in client data to support a finding or a recommendation.
