Summary We are seeking a Director, Scientific Communications to lead and oversee implementation of integrated scientific communications plans across publications, field medical content, congress activities, literature surveillance, and competitive intelligence. This role will operationalize the Medical Affairs scientific narrative and strategic communications priorities into clear, scientifically rigorous, compliant deliverables that support vidofludimus calcium launch readiness and Immunic’s broader pipeline. The Director will establish scalable content processes and partner closely with Medical Affairs Operations, Medical Review, Medical Information, Clinical Development, HEOR, Market Access, Commercial, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, external experts, and agencies. This role will initially lead through cross-functional influence and vendor oversight, with the potential to assume broader team leadership responsibilities as the Medical Affairs organization evolves. Responsibilities Scientific Communications, Publications & Narrative Implementation · Lead and oversee implementation of integrated scientific communications plans for vidofludimus calcium and Immunic’s broader pipeline, including publications, congress materials, field medical content, and related Medical Affairs resources. · Translate Medical Affairs priorities and evolving evidence into integrated workplans, prioritized deliverables, timelines, and execution roadmaps. · Operationalize and maintain the scientific platform, lexicon, dissemination framework, and core narrative to support consistent Medical Affairs communication. · Manage publication planning operations, including publication plans, steering committee activities, author engagement, abstracts, posters, and manuscripts. · Ensure publications and scientific communications follow Good Publication Practice, ICMJE authorship criteria, applicable industry standards, and internal review processes. Field Medical Content, Congress Support & External Insights · Lead Medical Affairs congress and field content planning, including scientific messaging, congress debriefs, modular resources, training content, FAQs, evidence summaries, and related tools. · Partner with Field Medical leadership to identify content needs, incorporate field insights, and keep resources timely, relevant, and aligned with launch-readiness priorities. · Manage literature surveillance to monitor emerging data, congress outputs, publications, treatment landscape developments, and other information relevant to Medical Affairs priorities. · Synthesize competitive intelligence and external scientific developments into actionable insights for narrative refinement, content planning, congress readiness, and cross-functional decision-making. · Recommend content updates, communication priorities, and risk-mitigation actions based on emerging evidence, field insights, and competitive intelligence. Functional Leadership & Capability Building · Partner with Medical Affairs Operations to establish scalable content standards, templates, review processes, and operating models, including lifecycle practices for version control, periodic review, updates, archival, and retirement. · Partner with Medical Review, Medical Information, HEOR, Clinical Development, Market Access, Commercial, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs Operations to ensure scientific communications are aligned, accurate, non-promotional, scalable, and fit for purpose. · Select, onboard, manage, and hold external medical communications, publications, and medical writing agencies accountable for quality, timelines, budgets, and contractual deliverables. · Provide operational leadership to external partners and cross-functional teams, with accountability for execution quality, prioritization, metrics, and communication of impact. Qualifications & Education · Advanced scientific or clinical degree required, such as PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent; strong scientific writing and communication background required. · 8+ years of relevant experience in scientific communications, publications, Medical Affairs, medical communications, or related biopharma functions. · Demonstrated experience developing and executing publication plans, scientific platforms, congress plans, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, presentations, and other evidence dissemination deliverables. · Strong working knowledge of Good Publication Practice, ICMJE authorship criteria, publication ethics, medical/legal/regulatory review processes, and industry expectations for transparency and scientific integrity. · Proven ability to select, manage, and lead external agencies, medical writers, publication partners, and other vendors to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget. · Ability to lead through influence, implement strategic direction, oversee complex cross-functional workstreams, and build scalable capabilities in an evolving organization. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex science into clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate content for internal and external stakeholders. · Strong prioritization, project management, and problem-solving skills, with comfort operating in a smaller, pre-commercial biotech environment where processes are being built and priorities may evolve. Preferred Qualifications · Launch or late-stage development experience strongly preferred. · Experience developing or overseeing field medical content, scientific exchange materials, training content, or related Medical Affairs tools preferred. · Experience in multiple sclerosis, neuroimmunology, neurology, immunology, or another chronic autoimmune or inflammatory disease area strongly preferred. · Experience building scalable scientific communications infrastructure preferred. · Experience with literature surveillance, competitive intelligence monitoring, and synthesis of external scientific developments into actionable Medical Affairs insights preferred. · Experience implementing publication management systems, content management tools, or scalable Medical Affairs operating processes preferred.
