INTRODUCTION and WHAT YOU WILL DO (Job Responsibilities)
Job Overview
Own governance and execution quality across Vontier’s portfolio of chartered value-stream transformations. This role acts like the enterprise owner of the transformation system: translating enterprise priorities into KPI-backed charters, assigning and coaching VBSL capacity, establishing baselines and Finance validation, removing cross-functional barriers, and holding the portfolio accountable for measurable KPI transformation. The role works through sponsors, functional leaders, local process owners, and matrixed teams to deliver results while deliberately building capability so ownership can be handed off and central capacity can move to the next transformation.
Responsibilities (List all)
- Partner with Presidents, GMs, VBS Business Partners, and sponsors to define transformation charters.
- Require explicit outcomes, baselines, sponsors, business owners, authority envelopes, resources, risks, and exit criteria before launch.
- Recommend portfolio priorities and start/stop/continue decisions based on enterprise value and readiness.
- Assign VBSLs and other support against approved transformations.
- Establish weekly transformation reviews and transparent health reporting covering milestones, blockers, decisions, Finance validation, and capability transfer.
- Mentor VBSLs in systems thinking, Gemba-based learning, structured problem solving, stakeholder influence, and business judgment.
- Pressure-test root cause, countermeasures, benefits logic, sponsor engagement, and local ownership.
- Remove or escalate cross-functional barriers that cannot be resolved within the assignment.
- Ensure transformation methods fit the problem rather than forcing a preferred tool.
- Capture field learning and improve enterprise transformation standards and charters.
WHO YOU ARE (Qualifications)
Required
- 15+ years of progressive experience in relevant business, operational, or functional field with strong background in lean transformation.
- Proven track record in enterprise transformation and business turnaround using lean methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
- Demonstrated leadership of complex, cross-functional transformations with measurable outcomes.
- Experience mentoring transformation leaders and influencing senior sponsors.
- Demonstrated financial judgment and ability to adapt methods across varied business conditions.
- Expert value-stream transformation and Lean thinking; proficient problem solving, growth thinking, and change leadership; competent strategy execution, 80/20 thinking, financial judgment, data judgment, and development of others.
- Willingness to travel regularly (30–40%) across a global operating company portfolio.
Preferred
- Leadership experience within a P&L or major function and experience building operating routines across multiple sites or functions.
- Experience governing a transformation portfolio across commercial, product, service, operations, supply chain, finance, or support value streams.
Ooutcomes and Deliverables
- Finance-validated KPI transformation across growth, margin, cash, customer experience, operations, or organizational effectiveness delivered through chartered work and sustained by business owners.
- Portfolio commitments delivered with transparent risk visibility and active barrier removal through the matrixed organization.
- Strong transformation charters and fewer unsupported interventions.
- VBSLs developed through successful assignments.
- Local owners capable of independently running daily management, standard work, KPI review, and problem solving at exit.
- Benefits sustained after central resources withdraw.
Scope & Decision Rights
- Owns: Transformation standards, charter quality, portfolio commitments, KPI transformation governance, VBSL assignment recommendations, milestone discipline, barrier escalation, execution reviews, capability transfer expectations, and exit readiness.
- Influences: Portfolio prioritization, sponsor actions, barrier removal, and transformation trade-offs.
- Does not own: Permanent P&L authority, long-term local operating ownership, or ongoing post-exit sustainment. The role is nonetheless accountable for the transformation results committed in the charter, the quality of matrixed execution, the capability built in the business, and the effectiveness of the handoff that allows VBSO capacity to move to the next priority.
Competencies
- Executive presence and the ability to influence without authority across a decentralized portfolio.
- A builder mindset — comfortable standing up a new function, lean team, and enterprise standard from a blank page.
- Balances enterprise standardization with respect for each operating company's market and customer context.
- Data-driven decision-making paired with strong storytelling and executive communication skills.
The base compensation range for this position is $164,000 to $225,000 per annum. Your actual base salary will be determined based upon numerous factors which may include relevant experience, skills, location (labor market data), credentials (education, certifications), and internal equity.
