Director, Workplace Strategy at a Glance
The Director, Workplace Strategy leads workplace conversations and insight-led client engagements with target accounts, actively promoting Teknion's point of view on work and place to clients, A&D partners, and industry organizations. Working in close partnership with the VP, Insights & Strategy, this role identifies emerging workforce trends, translates research into actionable insights, and co-develops, trains, and internally promotes our suite of human-centered workplace strategy services and engagements.
What You'll Do & How You'll Make an Impact
This role is an opportunity to drive impactful workplace strategy services, elevate client opportunities through insight-led selling, and shape the narrative on the evolving workplace ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities/Impact Areas:
- Promote Teknion's point of view on the workplace ecosystem across internal stakeholders, client leadership, and the broader design community.
- Lead key workplace strategy engagements, discovery sessions, and consultative conversations with target accounts; supporting sales reps in closing business opportunities.
- Partner with field sales, regional leadership, and dealer partners to co-lead strategy sessions and elevate client opportunities through insight-led selling.
- Co-develop thought leadership pieces, insight articles, and client-facing storytelling decks in collaboration with the Teknion Director of Insights.
- Maintain subject matter expertise on current workforce behaviors, hybrid work models, and emerging workplace ecosystem dynamics.
- Develop and maintain relationships with research and consultant partners.
- Champion strategic planning frameworks, adaptable furniture solutions, and insight-led client engagement models across the sales organization.
- Prompt, reliable, and regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring (Skills & Experience)
Must-Have Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in corporate workplace strategy, research, or commercial design strategy.
- Proven track record for translating qualitative and quantitative client data into actionable planning solutions.
- Experience conducting workplace observation studies, focus groups, and discovery workshops.
- Exceptional storytelling, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex data into insight-led client narratives.
- Comfortable leading C-suite conversations around business drivers, workforce expectations, and organizational culture.
- Strong understanding of contract furniture industry and influencer drivers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects across various industries and geographies.
- Self-sufficient, highly collaborative, idea generator, great listener, curious, and passionate about macro and micro shifts in our industry.
Travel Requirements
Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% across North American markets. Must reside within close proximity to a major airport with convenient access to direct flights across North America.
