Essential Responsibilities

• Develop and modify mechanical components, assemblies, and complete product designs using CAD software and standardized engineering calculations.
• Create accurate 3D models, manufacturing drawings, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Perform self-review and verification of models, drawings, and specifications before release through the product lifecycle management system.
• Maintain accurate bills of materials and product information in PLM, PDM, ERP, configurator, and shared engineering systems.
• Prepare engineering documentation that supports consistent manufacturing and production of components and complete units.
• Process Engineering Change Orders by evaluating and documenting the impact of changes on manufacturing, assembly, product function, and cost.
• Support prototype builds, production units, and special customer orders by resolving design and documentation issues.
• Update CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, and product records following prototype or production feedback.
• Collaborate with local and remote engineering teams to validate designs, share technical information, and standardize design processes.
• Review the work of Designer I and Designer II team members for accuracy when assigned.
• Work independently with limited supervision while managing priorities and meeting established delivery commitments.
• Recommend improvements to design methods, engineering procedures, and information used by product configuration systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

This position collaborates with:

• Engineering and Design teams: to define product requirements, review designs, support projects, and validate engineering documentation.
• Product Engineering: to verify specifications, production information, special orders, and bills of materials.
• Manufacturing and Production: to support prototype builds, special orders, and product assembly.
• Quality: to clarify component and assembly drawings and validate critical dimensions.
• Marketing: to evaluate requested product modifications and assess their technical feasibility.
• Suppliers: to obtain technical data, product samples, and dimensional information.

Required Qualifications

• Technical university degree or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience in technical drafting and the use of CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• At least three years of experience with sheet-metal design, piping, or heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning products.
• Five years of related experience in product design, manufacturing, mechanical drafting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Advanced English proficiency, with the ability to participate in technical discussions and interpret technical information in written and spoken form.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, safety standards, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Working knowledge of geometry, trigonometry, ratios, proportions, percentages, and other mathematical concepts used in mechanical design.
• Ability to manage multiple requirements, solve technical problems, and deliver accurate work within established deadlines.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

• Proficiency with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of sheet metal, piping, fasteners, and mechanical manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of refrigeration and air-conditioning concepts.
• Experience developing and documenting mechanical components and systems.
• Understanding of PLM and PDM systems, preferably Agile and Agile EC.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
• Ability to create and maintain bills of materials.
• Experience using dimensional inspection and measurement tools.
• Ability to interpret electrical diagrams is preferred.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly spreadsheet formulas and standardized document formats.
• SolidWorks Associate certification, CSWA, is required or expected; SolidWorks Professional certification, CSWP, is preferred.
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Japanese-language proficiency are considered advantageous.
