Job Title: Distribution Designer (QA/QC) Job Description We are currently seeking an experienced Distribution Designer to join our team in North Carolina. This role involves supporting power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects across the state. Initially, the position will focus on engineering calculations and design work, transitioning into a Quality Assurance/Quality Control role once acclimated to our systems and processes. Responsibilities Conduct engineering calculations and design for replacing deteriorating cable, moving overhead lines to underground, reconductoring existing distribution lines, and replacing aging poles. Perform structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. Transition into a QA/QC role, checking the work of other designers, suggesting corrections, and approving designs for submission. Essential Skills 2 years of electric utility distribution design experience. Proficiency in distribution design software such as BOUD, Maximo, Smallworld, Bentley Open Utility Designer, and Microstation. Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles. Strong written and oral communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prefer 2+ years of experience with the Duke system. QA/QC experience is desirable. Experience interacting with customers and developers for distribution projects. EIT/Passed Engineering Fundamentals Exam. Work Environment The role is based near downtown in a newly moved-in beautiful office with easy access. The power group consists of 40 people within a total office size of over 100. The Raleigh office features three asset teams, a relocation team, and a lighting team. After 1-3 months of development, there is the flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays, offering a hybrid work schedule. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $35.00/hr.
