Eversource will not offer immigration-related sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B, O-1, J-1, TN, E-3, etc.). Applicants requiring visa sponsorship to start employment with Eversource will not be considered.

Role and Scope of Position:
The Engineer will be part of the Advanced Modeling and Forecasting Team within the System Planning organization. This position focuses on advanced Synergi Electric modeling, special study modeling and MATLAB-based automation and model management capabilities.
A large portion of this role is dedicated to hands on Synergi Electric modeling and special studies, including capacity relief, contingency analysis, fault current analysis. The remaining part of the role focuses on automation, standardization, and model management, including MATLAB based automation of the Synergi Electric Solver, execution of large scale studies, and support of Synergi model governance functions.
The incumbent will support Eversource’s strategy to deliver technically rigorous, repeatable, and defensible planning studies, working across System Planning, Distribution Engineering, DER Planning, Reliability and Resiliency, and IT. This role directly supports distribution investment decisions, regulatory facing analysis, and long range system planning.

Essential Functions:

Perform advanced Synergi Electric special studies, including:

o 8760‑hour thermal and voltage analyses

o N‑1 contingency studies

o Fault current and protection‑related studies

Develop, execute, and document scenario‑based planning analyses comparing wires and non‑wires solutions under varying load growth, DER adoption, and contingency conditions.

Interpret modeling results and provide clear, defensible technical recommendations to planners, engineers, and leadership.

Support medium‑ and long‑range distribution planning studies, including capacity, asset performance, and system constraint identification.

Apply advanced MATLAB programming and software development practices to:

o Automate Synergi Electric Solver execution

o Conduct batch execution of large‑scale studies (e.g., 8760, contingency sets)

o Postprocess and visualize results

Support and enhance Synergi Electric Model Management functions, including automation around model setup, versioning, execution, and results tracking.

Support integration between Synergi Electric and PSCAD, including model preparation, execution support, and data exchange for electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align assumptions, modeling inputs, and methodologies.

Develop and maintain standardized and automated workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and auditability of special studies.

Produce decision‑ready reports, visualizations, and technical documentation.

Support task and project execution using enterprise tools (e.g., Jira).

Promote best practices in distribution modeling, automation, and model governance across the organization.
