The Engineering Technologist II position is second level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification. The Engineering Technologist II applies technical expertise to solve more complex problems and management skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with general supervision. Employees in the Engineering Technologist II position are expected to develop deeper technical skills and the ability to work with an increasing degree of independence.
*The hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a level II or III level depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate*
Engineering Technologist II
- Associates degree in Engineering Technology and 2 years of related work experience.
- In lieu of Associates degree and two (2) years of related experience, a High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of related experience can be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree with 2–4 years of related experience.
- Project Management Certification.
- Experience in the utility industry.
- Understanding of basic project management principles.
Engineering Technologist III
Required/Basic Qualifications
- Either 2+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 4+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 6+ years equivalent experience without a degree
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology
Preferred Qualifications
Good written and oral communication skills.
Experience in the utility industry.
Understanding of basic principles of project management.
Working Conditions
Some business units may require visits to field sites and/or plants
Specific Requirements
Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Either Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology with no experience, or 2+ years of experience with Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 4+ years of equivalent experience without a degree
