Polsinelli is seeking an experienced Docket Specialist to join its Firm Docketing Department. The Docket Specialist will support attorneys and legal teams across multiple offices and practice groups by reviewing court documents, interpreting applicable court rules, calculating critical deadlines, and maintaining accurate docket entries in CompuLaw.
The ideal candidate will have strong litigation docketing experience, particularly with California state and federal court rules, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review, analyze, and interpret pleadings, court orders, notices, and other legal documents to identify and calculate critical deadlines in accordance with applicable court rules, statutes, local procedures, and firm docketing protocols.
- Research, analyze, and interpret federal, state, local, and judge-specific court rules and procedures across multiple jurisdictions, with an emphasis on California litigation.
- Enter, update, and maintain deadlines, court appearances, hearings, reminders, and other critical dates in the firm's centralized docketing system.
- Perform quality-control reviews of docket entries and deadline calculations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm procedures.
- Review and process incoming docketing requests, including electronic court filing notifications and other deadline-related communications.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative professionals to clarify docketing requests, address questions, and provide guidance regarding docketing processes in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide backup coverage and additional support to other Docketing team members as needed.
- Work collaboratively with team members to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality service while maintaining professionalism.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Assume additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
- 3–5 years of litigation docketing experience in a law firm or legal services environment, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience.
- Strong working knowledge of California state and federal court rules, including the California Code of Civil Procedure, California Rules of Court, and applicable local and judge-specific rules.
- Experience calculating California litigation deadlines, including discovery, motion practice, service, hearings, and trial-related deadlines.
- Experience researching and interpreting federal, state, and local court rules across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience using CompuLaw or a comparable rules-based litigation docketing system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines.
- College degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent experience preferred.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000.
