Successful delivery of a renewable energy project depends on more than engineering and construction. Accurate technical records, well-organized documentation and timely project handover are essential to bringing new energy infrastructure into operation.
At SUNOTEC, we make that happen.
As an international system integrator of large-scale renewable energy infrastructure, SUNOTEC has delivered more than 680 projects with over 15 GW of installed renewable energy capacity. Our teams work across solar power generation, battery energy storage, grid infrastructure and lifecycle services.
As our UK project portfolio continues to grow, we're looking for a Document and Handover Manager to support the delivery of commercial and utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.
Why this role matters:
From the first engineering drawings to final project handover, construction teams depend on accurate, accessible and up-to-date documentation.
As a Document and Handover Manager at SUNOTEC, you'll help ensure that technical records, approvals and project documentation are properly organized and maintained throughout the construction and commissioning process.
Working closely with our Commissioning, Construction and Design teams, you'll coordinate documentation across internal systems and client platforms, track outstanding information and support the preparation of complete handover packages.
Your work will contribute directly to project quality, contractual compliance and the successful completion of our solar PV and BESS projects across the UK.
Where you'll make an impact:
- Keep project documentation organized and up to date, maintaining accurate document registers, drawing logs, technical submissions and correspondence across multiple construction projects;
- Support effective document control processes, ensuring drawings, specifications and other technical records are correctly named, version-controlled, distributed and archived across SUNOTEC's internal systems and client document management platforms;
- Coordinate document submissions and approvals, tracking information exchanged between SUNOTEC, clients, subcontractors, equipment suppliers and other project stakeholders to keep documentation aligned with project requirements;
- Contribute to successful project handovers, collecting, reviewing and organizing O&M manuals, as-built drawings, test certificates, commissioning records, warranties and other required documentation;
- Support PAC and FAC documentation, helping prepare the records required for Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) and Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) submissions, tracking outstanding items and supporting timely project close-out;
- Work closely with project teams, following up with Design, Construction, Commissioning and HSE colleagues to obtain missing documents, resolve inconsistencies and keep documentation on schedule;
- Maintain documentation quality and compliance, checking records against client requirements, internal procedures and ISO 9001 quality management principles, while supporting project audits when required;
- Help improve document control practices, identifying opportunities to make filing structures, templates and document tracking more consistent and efficient across projects.
What will help you succeed:
- You have at least 2 years of previous experience in document control, document coordination or a similar role, preferably within construction, engineering, infrastructure or renewable energy projects;
- You're familiar with document control processes, including revision management, document registers, transmittals and approval tracking;
- You have experience working with technical documentation and understand the importance of maintaining accurate records throughout a project's lifecycle;
- You're confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and SharePoint, and comfortable working with digital document management systems;
- You can organize large volumes of information, manage several deadlines simultaneously and follow up on outstanding documentation without losing attention to detail;
- You're comfortable communicating with engineers, project managers, subcontractors and other stakeholders to obtain information and resolve documentation issues;
- You take a structured and proactive approach to your work, identifying missing information and helping prevent documentation delays;
- You have relevant qualifications in construction, business administration, document management or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
It would be an advantage if you also bring:
- Experience working on solar PV, BESS or other renewable energy construction projects;
- Familiarity with CDE/EDMS platforms such as Aconex, Viewpoint, Asite or Procore;
- Experience compiling O&M manuals, as-built documentation and project handover packages;
- An understanding of PAC/FAC documentation and project acceptance processes;
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management principles and UK construction documentation requirements.
Why you'll enjoy working here:
You'll be part of a growing UK team delivering large-scale solar PV and battery storage projects, working alongside experienced engineering, construction and commissioning professionals.
You'll gain exposure to different stages of project delivery, from technical documentation during construction to commissioning and final client handover.
You'll have the opportunity to strengthen your document control expertise, work with different project management systems and contribute to improving how project information is managed across the business.
We'll provide training on SUNOTEC's internal systems and client-specific document management platforms to help you succeed in the role.
In addition, you'll benefit from:
- Permanent, full-time employment;
- Discretionary annual company performance bonus;
- Workplace pension with a 7% employer contribution;
- 25 days of annual leave plus UK bank holidays;
- Private healthcare and Employee Assistance Programme;
- Fully funded training, including document management platforms and CDE/EDMS systems;
- Car allowance for required site travel;
- Cycle to Work scheme and life assurance;
- Site and travel allowances, where applicable;
- Home-based working arrangement, with travel to our Leicester office when required.
