Fossil is looking for a Domestic Tax Manager reporting to the Director of Tax. The ideal candidate will manage a team responsible for the Company’s U.S. tax activities, particularly federal and state income tax provisions, compliance with federal, state and local direct and indirect tax obligations, developing tax strategies and driving tax initiatives throughout the organization.

The role has a unique opportunity to provide thought leadership to create and implement initiatives that optimize the Company’s domestic tax profile

This role is onsite: In office Monday through Thursday and remote on Fridays.

What you will do in this role:

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local tax laws. Oversee the preparation, review and timely filing of federal income, state, franchise, and estimated tax payments and returns.

  • Manage the process for preparation and review of Company tax provisions by assuring that all tax-related accounts are recorded accurately and in accordance with ASC 740. Review journal entries, reconciliations and components of deferred tax.

  • Supervise and review Canadian GST/HST/PST monthly filings

  • Oversee tax information reporting and documentation, including 1099 reporting and state annual reports.

  • Review property tax renditions

  • Interpret and analyze legislative changes.

  • Perform research on federal and state tax matters.

  • Maintain SOX controls relevant to reporting and compliance



Who You Are:
Requirements

  • BBA/BS/MS Accounting or LLM

  • Certified Public Accountant or Masters in Taxation· Experience in Tax Provisions

  • 4+ years of corporate tax experience

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships and effectively influence and work with internal partners, business units and external partners, governmental auditors, internal and external auditors

  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to develop good working relationships

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor and inspire high performing teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines

  • Ability to communicate and educate members of management in tax related matters, as needed

  • Ability to interface with internal IT group and external software vendors to ensure company has the appropriate software tools to collect internal data and file returns efficiently

  • Strong analytical skills and good judgment
