We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Drayage & Transload Account Manager to join our growing freight brokerage team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in U.S. drayage, intermodal transportation, and transload operations, with a strong background in account management, customer service, carrier coordination, and shipment execution.

This role is responsible for managing customer accounts and overseeing the full transportation lifecycle, including container pickups and deliveries, transloading operations, warehouse coordination, appointment scheduling, shipment tracking, and empty container returns.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, building strong business relationships while ensuring reliable transportation solutions, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This position requires excellent communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills, along with the ability to manage multiple accounts and shipments in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Account Management & Customer Relations

  • Understand customer transportation requirements and provide tailored logistics solutions.

  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding shipment status, scheduling, delays, and operational updates.

  • Proactively address customer concerns, resolve service issues, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts, increase shipment volume, and develop additional business.

  • Coordinate customer requests, pricing inquiries, service changes, and special transportation requirements.

  • Work closely with internal sales and operations teams to ensure customer expectations are consistently met.

  • Monitor account performance and identify opportunities to improve service quality and operational efficiency.

Drayage & Transload Operations

  • Coordinate and manage end-to-end U.S. drayage and intermodal shipments, including container pickups, deliveries, and empty returns.

  • Oversee transloading operations, coordinating container unloading, freight transfers, reloading, and warehouse handling.

  • Coordinate with ports, rail ramps, warehouses, distribution centers, and transload facilities.

  • Schedule and confirm pickup, delivery, warehouse, and transload appointments.

  • Communicate with drayage carriers, dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers to ensure timely shipment execution.

  • Monitor shipment milestones, container availability, and delivery schedules.

  • Track container availability, last free days, and empty return requirements to avoid unnecessary detention and demurrage charges.

  • Proactively manage delays, missed appointments, equipment shortages, warehouse capacity issues, and other operational challenges.

  • Ensure accurate shipment documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), Proofs of Delivery (PODs), delivery orders, interchange receipts, and warehouse receipts.

Carrier & Vendor Management

  • Source, evaluate, and coordinate reliable drayage carriers and transload providers.

  • Negotiate competitive transportation and transload rates while maintaining service quality and profitability.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, dispatchers, warehouse operators, and other logistics partners.

  • Monitor carrier performance, including on-time pickups, deliveries, communication, and overall service reliability.

  • Resolve carrier-related issues and coordinate recovery solutions when operational disruptions occur.

  • Verify carrier capacity, equipment availability, and service capabilities based on customer requirements.

Pricing, Cost Control & Documentation

  • Prepare and review customer quotes for drayage, transload, and related transportation services.

  • Monitor shipment costs and profitability to ensure customer rates align with agreed-upon pricing.

  • Review accessorial charges, including detention, demurrage, chassis, storage, pre-pull, dry runs, waiting time, and warehouse handling.

  • Verify carrier invoices and supporting documentation to ensure billing accuracy.

  • Investigate rate discrepancies, dispute unauthorized charges, and coordinate resolutions with carriers and accounting.

  • Assist with customer invoicing, freight cost reconciliation, and outstanding billing inquiries.

  • Maintain accurate shipment records, customer information, pricing details, and operational updates in the transportation management system (TMS).

  • Hands-on experience coordinating transloading operations, warehouse appointments, container unloading, and freight transfers.

  • Understanding of detention, demurrage, chassis, storage, pre-pull, and other accessorial charges.

  • Experience coordinating drayage carriers, dispatchers, warehouses, and transportation providers.

  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills, with the ability to handle multiple accounts simultaneously.

  • Experience with freight pricing, rate negotiations, carrier management, and cost control.

  • Ability to troubleshoot shipment delays, resolve operational issues, and provide effective recovery solutions.

  • Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), carrier portals, load boards, and logistics software.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and other transportation-related platforms.

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
