Tourism Economics Tourism Economics, an Oxford Economics company, is a leading global economic consulting and forecaster specializing in the intersection of tourism expertise and rigorous economics. Our work answers the most important questions facing destinations and corporations worldwide, backed by best-in-class research and datasets for navigating economic uncertainty. We are seeking a high-caliber Economic Analyst / Economist to join our team, based in our Wayne or Philadelphia, PA (USA) offices. Our clients include destination marketing organizations at the city, state, and national levels; leading industry trade associations; and major corporate owners, operators, and brands in the travel sector. We have a longstanding relationship with many of our clients, typically through subscription-based services or recurring studies. We serve a global client base from our offices in the US and UK. Examples of our consulting work include: quantifying the economic impact of visitors, events, and destination marketing; tracking, modeling, and forecasting travel sector performance; and, conducting policy and market analysis, and bespoke research. Our client base continues to expand across our consulting services and this position will contribute to data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and preparation and delivery of final analyses, with scope to lead individual workstreams and own client deliverables as experience allows. This individual must have an aptitude for numbers and strong analytical skills, as well as communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. This position reports to the Head of Destination Studies and works closely with senior staff across our consulting practice. The position is open at either the Economic Analyst or Economist level, with title and responsibilities calibrated to the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. The role will include daily interaction with a talented team, including economists and experienced team leaders. A self-starter, eager-to-learn, and resourceful individual will be a great addition to the growing practice. Attention to detail is critical, and applicants should take pride in producing accurate work on a timely basis in collaboration with colleagues. This position offers strong opportunities for skill development and personal growth as part of a small, highly capable, and growing team. Key Responsibilities Collects and analyzes third-party statistics Managesand updates recurring research, including charts, reports, and presentations Produces high-quality work requiring accuracy in calculations, adherence to prescribed methods, and sense of responsibility in checking one’s own work Synthesizes large amounts of information and communicates key findings clearly and concisely Contributes to online survey research and other client research programs Supports and, with experience, manages research projects of varying complexity Builds, runs, and refines economic impact models, and interprets results for nontechnical audiences Drafts report narrative and client-ready deliverables, and contributes to client presentations and meetings Uses AI tools to accelerate human-led research, analysis, and drafting, while validating all outputs against source data and applying professional judgment to the results Other duties, as required Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in relevant field (e.g. Economics, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or Statistics) 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in economic research, consulting, or applied data analysis Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Working knowledge of a statistical or scripting language (e.g., R, Python, or Stata) is strongly preferred Comfortable using AI tools to support research, analysis, and writing, with the judgment to verify outputs, safeguard client and proprietary data, and recognize where these tools are not appropriate Detail-oriented, organized, and possesses finely tuned skills in data collection and compiling information Familiarity with publicly available data sources (e.g., U.S. Census, BLS/BEA, Statistics Canada) and data platforms such as CoStar and others is a plus Exposure to input-output modeling or other economic impact frameworks (e.g., IMPLAN) is a plus Proven success with working both independently and in teams, with the initiative and resourcefulness to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Oxford Economics is an equal opportunity employer.
