MCS Group is delighted to be partnering with an ambitious Irish technology company operating in the AI and video analytics space, as they look to appoint an Edge Software & Platform Engineer to their growing engineering team.
The business has already established relationships with enterprise customers and is now investing in the next stage of its technology, creating an opportunity for an engineer to take ownership of a new area of development.
This is a particularly interesting position for someone with a background in Platform Engineering, DevOps or infrastructure-focused Software Engineering who wants to work closer to the product, rather than focusing exclusively on traditional cloud infrastructure.
You'll be joining a small, experienced engineering team and taking a leading role in developing a new edge computing capability.
The focus will be on building the infrastructure that allows the company's existing software to operate securely and reliably within customer environments, working across Linux systems, networking, cloud infrastructure and deployment automation.
This is a hands-on engineering position with plenty of scope to influence technical decisions, solve interesting infrastructure challenges and take a project from early development through to real-world deployment.
You'll work directly with engineering leadership and have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on how this part of the platform develops.
Building, configuring and maintaining Linux-based infrastructure for edge computing environments.
Developing and automating deployment processes using Python, Terraform and associated tooling.
Working with existing software services to support their deployment across distributed environments.
Designing and configuring secure networking, connectivity and infrastructure services.
Ensuring systems are reliable, secure and suitable for use within enterprise customer environments.
Implementing monitoring, logging and observability to support ongoing performance and reliability.
Working closely with cloud and software engineers on technical design and infrastructure decisions.
Taking ownership of technical challenges from initial development through to deployment.
We're particularly interested in speaking with engineers who have a strong foundation in Linux systems and infrastructure engineering, alongside experience in software development or automation.
Ideally, you'll bring:
Strong hands-on experience working with Linux operating systems and infrastructure.
Good Python development and scripting experience.
Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
Exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS or Azure.
A solid understanding of networking, connectivity and infrastructure security.
Experience deploying, configuring and maintaining software services.
Familiarity with Bash, shell scripting and automation.
An understanding of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus or Grafana.
A practical approach to problem-solving and the confidence to take ownership of technical delivery.
Experience with edge computing, IoT, remote device management or distributed infrastructure would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
We're equally interested in engineers from established enterprise environments who have worked with secure, production-grade infrastructure and would like the opportunity to apply that experience within a smaller, growing business.
This is an opportunity to join a business with an established product and enterprise customers, while still benefiting from the autonomy and technical ownership that comes with working in a startup environment.
You'll have the chance to help shape a new area of the platform, work directly with experienced engineers and see your work make its way into real customer environments.
The position is fully remote, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, technical ownership and delivering practical solutions.
There is also longer-term scope for the role to develop as the platform and engineering function continue to grow.
If you're a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer or Software Engineer with strong Linux and infrastructure experience, we'd be keen to hear from you.
You don't need to have worked specifically in edge computing before. We're more interested in strong technical fundamentals, a practical mindset and an interest in building something new.
