Edge Software Security Engineer Company NestAI is a European AI lab for defence delivering the adaptive operating system for modern battlefield operations. We develop adaptive intelligence for unmanned and command systems: AI that continuously learns from operational data and adapts to changing conditions. NestOS is our open, modular and interoperable platform that enables this at scale and keeps capability evolution under sovereign European control. Founded in 2025 by Peter Sarlin, whose previous company Silo AI became Europe's largest AI acquisition, NestAI brings together over 200 engineers and scientists and partners with leading European defence forces and industry. Role Description Join the NestAI Edge Software team building secure software for unmanned and command systems. You will help design and implement how devices, services, operators, and connected products are trusted throughout their operational lifecycle. Your work will cover secure deployment, fleet and asset management, communications, ground-control applications, and secure interoperability between systems. This is a hands-on product engineering role with primary focus on embedded and mobile devices. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Design secure identity and access methods for devices, services, operators, and connected systems. Define how assets are securely enrolled, deployed, updated, monitored, and retired. Help establish secure communication, authorization, audit trails, and protection for sensitive interfaces and media services. Secure structured operational data as it moves between system boundaries. Ensure data origin, context, authority, timing, and traceability are preserved and cannot be silently or maliciously altered or replayed. Apply validation and clear trust rules so malformed or untrusted data cannot trigger sensitive actions. Review and improve protection against untrusted input, compromised devices, and misconfigured deployments. Build security checks, operational guidance, and incident support with partner teams. Qualifications: Strong hands-on software security or platform security engineering experience. Experience with device identity, access control, secure communications, or service lifecycle management. Experience securing system integrations, data provenance, validation, or interoperability is valuable. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language in embedded or mobile software development (C++, Python, Kotlin or equivalent) and experience with Linux, networking, and deployment automation. Experience with embedded devices, robotics, mobile applications, cloud services, or fleet management is valuable. Able to ship practical improvements under deadline and explain trade-offs clearly. Experience in defence or other mission-critical systems is valuable Why join NestAI At NestAI, you’ll build meaningful, real-world technology as part of a world-class team of engineers, scientists, and experienced professionals. You’ll work on systems where reliability genuinely matters, contribute to Europe’s security and resilience, and solve problems that demand depth, trust, and craftsmanship. If you want to build with purpose - and with leading experts in the field - you’ve come to the right place. Department Edge Locations Tampere, Turku, Oulu, Helsinki Remote status Hybrid About NestAI Physical AI is moving from theory to reality. The systems being built today will shape how societies protect people, operate critical infrastructure, and respond under pressure for decades to come. At NestAI, close to 200 engineers and scientists work at the intersection of software, hardware, and AI — developing autonomy, sensing, and command capabilities for mission-critical use. This isn’t demo work. It’s real systems, built for real environments. We build in Europe, with open and interoperable architectures, so that critical capabilities can evolve over time without lock-in — and remain accountable to the societies they serve.
