Position Summary:

As the ED/VP of Patient and Provider Support, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless access to our products and delivering an excellent provider and patient experience. Your primary focus will be to set national patient access and reimbursement strategies, lead large field-based teams and remove access barriers for our specialty pharmaceutical products. You'll be instrumental in building capabilities from the ground up and ensure launch-ready infrastructure for our upcoming launch in Retina. The role will collaborate internally across Market Access, Corp. Accounts, Trade & Distribution, Sales, Marketing, Commercial Operations / Analytics, Training, Finance, Legal / Compliance and Human Resources. A strong track record of building scalable capabilities to support future growth and operating in a launch readiness setting is expected.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Strategy: Design and execute long-term provider reimbursement, patient access, adherence and hub program strategies for the existing portfolio and new launches. Assess the current Retina landscape and identify opportunities to innovate provider and patient solutions
  • Team management: Lead and scale a team of Field Reimbursement Directors and Managers as well as Patient Services Hub Operations and case managers
  • Provider reimbursement support: Develop go-to-market strategy for FRM team. Oversee all marketing, tools and support systems developed to ease reimbursement workflows for providers. Ensure tight coordination between Corporate Account teams and FRM team to pull through reimbursement tools / solutions within child accounts and address any issues
  • Patient services and support: Oversee internal and third-party operations, maximize data analytics and service delivery to patients and caregivers
  • Policy & Payer expertise: Monitor changing federal, state and commercial payer policies, billing codes and buy-and-bill dynamics and suggest strategies to improve performance as needed
  • Cross-functional leadership: Key partner with brand leadership to align on FRM account prioritization. Oversee local-level partnership with sales, corp. accounts, and medical affairs to support product pull through.
  • Performance management: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytics to tie team performance to measurable patient outcomes
  • Innovation and continuous improvement: Drive implementation of innovative technology solutions relevant to the market, including potential AI opportunities that will help elevate operational efficiencies and overall effectiveness
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable healthcare laws, regulations, industry standards, and company policies
  • Budget: Lead budget planning and financial oversight across field reimbursement, patient support programs and all vendors.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in patient services, market access, reimbursement, or other related pharmaceutical/biotech functions
  • Minimum 10+ years in a management or leadership role of people or function
  • Superb knowledge of government and commercial payers for specialty products across buy & bill and specialty pharmacy pathways, prior authorization and appeal requirements, coding, appropriate claim submission, and integration with patient assistance programs
  • Experienced in building strategic patient access and field reimbursement capabilities
  • Proven track record of scaling capabilities for growth
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership, collaboration and communication skills
  • Self-starter attitude.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time

Salary Range
$315,000—$330,000 USD
