Electric Machine Design Engineer

ARCA is partnered with an aerospace client recruiting engineers to develop motors and generators for civil and military applications.

You’ll work on machine design, analysis and prototype testing. Opportunities cover electromagnetic, mechanical and thermal engineering, with roles suited to different technical specialisms.

Relevant experience includes:

• Electric motor or generator design and optimisation.
• Electromagnetic modelling using Motor-CAD, Maxwell, COMSOL or equivalent.
• Machine performance, losses, efficiency and thermal management.
• Mechanical design of electrical machines, including rotor assemblies, packaging, structural analysis and vibration.
• Prototype development, testing and validation.

The team is recruiting at multiple levels, including senior and principal. You don’t need experience across everything listed; strong expertise in a relevant area could suit one of the opportunities.

Relevant backgrounds outside aerospace, including automotive and industrial motor development, are welcome.

Role details:

• Bristol, with Derby and Solihull also available for discussion.
• Hybrid working, typically three days onsite per week.
