Job Summary
The Electrical Commissioning Supervisor is responsible for planning, developing, and executing electrical commissioning activities for power generation, industrial, renewable energy, LNG, and balance-of-plant facilities. The role leads electrical testing and commissioning technicians, develops energization procedures, coordinates vendor and contractor activities, and supports the Commissioning Manager in safely bringing electrical systems into service.
Essential Functions

- Develop detailed electrical energization, shutdown, and restoration procedures.
- Lead medium-voltage and low-voltage commissioning activities for switchgear, transformers, MCCs, UPS systems, protective relays and associated controls.
- Manage and direct electrical testing technicians and subcontractors performing acceptance and commissioning testing.
- Review single-line diagrams, schematics, relay settings, protection philosophies, and testing requirements.
- Coordinate pre-functional checks, I/O verification, loop checks, functional testing, and integrated system testing.
- Support LOTO and system boundary management during commissioning and energization activities.
- Develop commissioning schedules and coordinate interfaces between construction, operations, vendors, and engineering teams.
- Lead daily commissioning meetings and communicate system status, risks, and readiness for energization.
- Witness and supervise NETA-style testing, relay testing, transformer testing, cable testing, breaker testing, and associated electrical acceptance activities.
- Manage punch lists, deficiencies, test records, turnover packages, and commissioning documentation.
- Support operator training and system turnover to the owner.
- Provide commissioning support during startup, performance testing, and reliability run activities.
- Assists in the preparation of estimates for pre-commissioning, commissioning and performance testing activities.
- Travel to meetings with customers and vendors as required.
- Works on special projects and performs other related duties, as directed.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education/experience in lieu of degree..
- 6+ years of electrical testing, commissioning, startup, operations, maintenance, or construction experience in industrial or power facilities.
- Certification from the Institute of Commissioning Assurance or equivalent is preferred.
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification is required, OSHA 30-Hour Certification is preferred.
- NICET or equivalent technical certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate vendors, contractors, and project stakeholders; manage schedules and interfaces; prepare technical documentation; and resolve complex technical issues during commissioning, startup, and energization activities.
- Demonstrated experience developing energization procedures and leading first-time equipment energizations.
- Working knowledge of protective relays, power system protection, switchgear, transformers, generators, BESS systems, and electrical distribution systems through 34.5 kV and above.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA requirements, NETA testing practices, and electrical safety programs.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, technical writing, and protection schemes.
- Strong leadership, planning, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel extensively and work at project sites for extended durations.
