JDL Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a leading AI cloud infrastructure company as they look to expand their team with an Electrical Design Engineer in the Netherlands.
This is a permanent, full-time position, working remotely from anywhere in the Netherlands with occasional travel. You’ll be joining a small team that’s building the function from the ground up, assessing new sites and setting the technical standards for their AI data centre growth. A competitive package is on offer.
Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical due diligence on new sites, existing facilities, colocation capacity and build-to-suit opportunities
- Own power distribution, capacity and equipment assumptions feeding the pre-construction risk register
- Assess grid connections, substations, on-site generation and redundancy strategies (N, N+1, 2N) against projected IT load
- Give Go / No-Go recommendations on electrical feasibility before deals close
- Review lead times and capex trade-offs on transformers, switchgear, UPS and generators across candidate sites
- Help write the technical standards, design criteria and readiness gates for future acquisitions
- Act as the main electrical interface across Site Selection, Development, Energy, Delivery and utility providers
- Hand over technically validated electrical scope to Delivery, ready for construction
Requirements:
- 8+ years in electrical engineering on mission critical facilities. Data centre experience is a bonus, but not essential
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of MV distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators and grid connections
- Understanding of capacity planning, redundancy topology and capex trade-offs
- Experience in feasibility or due diligence work is a plus
- EPMS/BMS integration, commissioning, grid connection agreements or a chartered/PE qualification are a plus
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, build-from-scratch environment
- Strong communication and presentation skills
