What the role is about:

The Lighting Engineer is an ambitious, results-oriented technical leader within the Gavita lighting business. This role blends strategic planning, commercial acumen, and applied technology knowledge to define and deliver new LED lighting products and systems for cannabis and controlled-environment agriculture. The role is a strong cross-functional player, working closely with Sales, Product Marketing, Quality, and Suppliers to bring lighting products from concept to market. Our ideal candidate will be located in Vancouver, WA.

What impact you’ll make:

• Understand customer needs and market opportunities, and translate them into new lighting products and systems that serve market demand

• Define technical specifications and plan how new technology developments can deliver on spec and/or drive cost reductions

• Collaborate effectively with Sales, Quality, Suppliers, and Procurement to plan and execute new product development

• Own planning and management of supplier relationships for new product realization; ensure delivery on spec — at cost — on time

• Set clear objectives for manufacturing suppliers to ensure product performance and quality are delivered

• Own technical documentation — spec sheets, user guides, labeling — and ensure compliance requirements are met

• Report to the lighting business lead and work closely with category/brand management, sales support, and marketing to align on planning and product launches; flag issues early

• Provide training to, and collect feedback from, sales and customers through targeted visits and trade shows

• Provide technical field support as needed, resolve issues with new products, and share lessons learned

What you’ve accomplished:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (engineering, physics, electronics, or automation)

• Engineering background with knowledge of automation and integration; LED lighting experience strongly preferred

• Demonstrated product development project management experience; structured, detail-oriented worker

• Basic knowledge of value proposition and business case building; affiliation with agricultural/cannabis growth business is a plus

• Experience collaborating across functional areas — sales, technology, finance, and supply management

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including delivering training

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% for customer visits, trade shows, and supplier engagement

What we offer:

• Compensation: $95,000-$130,000 annually depending on experience

• 401k program with an employer match after six months of employment
