The Role

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Certification Manager to lead product certification, regulatory compliance, conformity assessment, testing, technical documentation, and market-access activities for electronic hardware and systems.

The ideal candidate will establish certification strategies, coordinate testing and approvals, interpret applicable standards and regulations, manage certification bodies and laboratories, and ensure products achieve required certifications efficiently throughout their development and lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement electronics certification strategies aligned with product, market, regulatory, and business requirements.
• Establish certification plans covering product development, testing, approvals, market access, and lifecycle compliance.
• Identify applicable regulations, standards, directives, certification schemes, and conformity-assessment requirements.
• Maintain a regulatory and standards register for relevant products and markets.
• Determine certification requirements for electronic products, components, modules, systems, and accessories.
• Interpret applicable requirements and translate them into clear engineering and compliance actions.
• Develop certification matrices mapping product requirements to applicable standards and evidence.
• Coordinate certification activities across hardware, software, firmware, mechanical, RF, safety, quality, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams.
• Review product architectures and designs for potential certification and compliance risks.
• Identify compliance requirements early in the product-development lifecycle.
• Participate in design reviews and provide certification guidance for new products and engineering changes.
• Define certification test plans, test configurations, acceptance criteria, and required technical evidence.
• Coordinate laboratory testing for electrical safety, EMC, radio performance, environmental performance, energy efficiency, and other applicable requirements.
• Manage third-party testing laboratories, certification bodies, inspection organizations, and technical assessment providers.
• Select appropriate laboratories and certification partners based on scope, accreditation, capability, schedule, and cost.
• Manage laboratory quotations, test schedules, technical communications, samples, documentation, and test execution.
• Review laboratory test plans and ensure test configurations accurately represent production products.
• Coordinate pre-compliance testing to identify and resolve issues before formal certification.
• Lead investigations of certification test failures, nonconformities, deviations, and unexpected results.
• Coordinate corrective actions with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Ensure failed or modified products are appropriately retested and certification evidence is updated.
• Manage formal certification submissions, applications, technical files, declarations, reports, and approval documentation.
• Maintain complete and accurate certification records for each product and market.
• Coordinate product approvals and registrations with relevant authorities and certification organizations.
• Manage conformity-assessment activities, factory inspections, product evaluations, and certification audits where applicable.
• Support electromagnetic compatibility compliance, including emissions, immunity, conducted and radiated disturbances, and related requirements.
• Coordinate electrical and product-safety assessments covering insulation, dielectric strength, leakage current, grounding, temperature, fire enclosure, and related characteristics as applicable.
• Support radio and wireless certification for products incorporating Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, satellite, GNSS, NFC, or other wireless technologies where applicable.
• Coordinate RF testing covering transmitter characteristics, receiver performance, spectrum use, power limits, spurious emissions, and radio-frequency exposure requirements where applicable.
• Support environmental and sustainability compliance involving hazardous substances, materials restrictions, recycling, energy efficiency, and related market requirements.
• Coordinate cybersecurity and connected-product compliance activities where applicable.
• Work with software and firmware teams to address certification implications of embedded functionality, wireless features, updates, and security mechanisms.
• Review component certifications and determine their applicability to final product certification.
• Maintain approved-component, critical-component, and certification-impact records.
• Coordinate product labeling, certification marks, regulatory identifiers, user information, warnings, and compliance statements.
• Review technical manuals, installation instructions, datasheets, packaging, and product documentation for certification-related requirements.
• Ensure manufacturing configurations remain consistent with certified designs.
• Establish controls for production changes that may affect certification status.
• Assess engineering changes, component substitutions, PCB revisions, firmware changes, enclosure modifications, and manufacturing-process changes for certification impact.
• Manage certification updates, amendments, renewals, extensions, and re-certification activities.
• Monitor expiration dates, certificate conditions, registration requirements, and ongoing compliance obligations.
• Coordinate surveillance audits, periodic inspections, factory assessments, and certification-maintenance activities.
• Support customer and distributor requests for certificates, declarations, compliance statements, and technical evidence.
• Respond to regulatory inquiries and certification-body questions in coordination with appropriate technical teams.
• Monitor regulatory and standards developments that may affect existing or future products.
• Conduct compliance gap assessments and develop remediation plans for regulatory changes.
• Evaluate emerging requirements for connected devices, wireless products, cybersecurity, AI-enabled electronics, energy efficiency, and environmental compliance.
• Establish internal certification procedures, templates, checklists, and governance standards.
• Develop training programs to improve engineering awareness of certification and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain certification knowledge bases, technical records, standards libraries, and product compliance databases.
• Use compliance-management tools to track certificates, requirements, testing, submissions, findings, and renewal dates.
• Develop dashboards and reports covering certification status, risks, testing, costs, schedules, and market readiness.
• Manage certification budgets, external laboratory costs, testing resources, and compliance-related expenditures.
• Identify opportunities to reduce certification cycle times, testing duplication, and compliance costs without compromising technical or regulatory requirements.
• Support product launches by ensuring required certifications and market approvals are completed before release.
• Provide senior management with regular reports covering certification progress, regulatory risks, test results, open findings, market approvals, and compliance readiness.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should have strong experience in electronics certification, product compliance, regulatory affairs, conformity assessment, EMC, electrical safety, RF certification, or electronic product quality, preferably within consumer electronics, industrial electronics, telecommunications, automotive electronics, medical devices, aerospace, defense, or connected-product environments.

The candidate should demonstrate:

• Strong understanding of electronics certification and global market-access processes.
• Experience developing certification strategies and compliance plans for electronic products.
• Strong knowledge of product safety, EMC, RF, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience interpreting international standards and translating them into engineering requirements.
• Familiarity with standards and certification frameworks applicable to electronic products and connected devices.
• Experience coordinating accredited laboratories, certification bodies, regulators, and inspection organizations.
• Strong knowledge of EMC testing, including emissions, immunity, conducted disturbances, and radiated disturbances.
• Understanding of electrical safety testing and product-safety assessment principles.
• Experience with wireless and RF certification is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance and restricted-substance requirements.
