Electronics Engineering Team Lead | Advanced Hardware Development

Location: Delft, Netherlands | Hybrid

Salary: €85,000–€100,000 + Benefits

Industry: Deep Tech | Advanced Electronics | Next-Generation Hardware

Are you an experienced Electronics Engineer who enjoys leading people but isn't ready to step away from hands-on engineering?

We're partnering with an innovative, rapidly growing deep-tech company developing next-generation hardware systems at the forefront of quantum computing.

They're looking for an Electronics Engineering Team Lead to take technical ownership of a multidisciplinary team developing sophisticated electronics for a new generation of high-performance hardware.

This isn't a traditional management position. You'll remain close to the technology, solving complex engineering challenges, shaping design decisions and leading a talented team through early-stage development, prototyping and validation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of approximately six electronics and mechanical engineers.
  • Take technical ownership of complex electronic hardware, from initial design through prototype validation.
  • Drive PCB design, high-speed digital electronics, mixed-signal systems and hardware integration.
  • Remain hands-on with circuit design, board bring-up, debugging and laboratory testing.
  • Guide technical decisions involving signal integrity, power distribution, clocking and RF interfaces.
  • Oversee schematic and PCB design reviews, ensuring engineering quality and reliability.
  • Work closely with systems architects, FPGA engineers and embedded software teams.
  • Mentor engineers, support their career development and build a high-performing engineering culture.
  • Own technical delivery, engineering priorities and project milestones.

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years' experience developing complex electronic hardware.
  • 2+ years' experience leading or line-managing engineering teams.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in PCB design, schematic capture and hardware debugging.
  • Experience with high-speed digital, mixed-signal, analogue or RF electronics.
  • Practical knowledge of board bring-up, electronic measurement equipment and root-cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Altium, Cadence, OrCAD or KiCad.
  • Experience delivering hardware through concept, prototyping, testing and integration.
  • Ability to balance technical leadership with genuine people management.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Applied Physics or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Additional experience that would be valuable:

  • Precision instrumentation, telecommunications, semiconductor or test and measurement equipment.
  • ADC/DAC systems, clock distribution, power integrity or high-speed serial interfaces.
  • Mechanical and thermal integration, enclosure design or EMC considerations.
  • Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex hardware platforms.

Quantum computing experience is not required. We're particularly interested in engineers from advanced electronics, instrumentation, telecommunications and other technically demanding hardware environments.

What's On Offer?

  • Competitive salary of €85,000–€100,000, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working in Delft, Netherlands.
  • Opportunity to lead engineering development within an ambitious deep-tech organisation.
  • Genuine technical ownership rather than a purely administrative management position.
  • An experienced, collaborative team of electronics, mechanical, FPGA and systems engineers.
  • 30 days' annual leave, holiday allowance and a favourable pension scheme.
  • Professional development, leadership support and long-term career progression.
  • The chance to influence a new generation of advanced hardware technology.

Interested?

If you're an electronics engineering leader who still enjoys getting involved in the technical detail, I'd be keen to speak with you.

You don't need to come from quantum computing. What matters is your ability to lead engineers, solve difficult hardware problems and deliver exceptional electronic systems.
