Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands – IMI TWTG

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Salary: Up to €80,000 per annum + annual discretionary bonus

Contract: Full-time

IMI is a global specialist engineering company focused on developing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. Through our expertise, technology and commitment to continuous improvement, we partner with customers around the world to create products that make a lasting impact.

Operating across five specialist markets, we design, build and service highly engineered products for fluid and motion control applications.

About the Opportunity

IMI TWTG develops innovative Industrial IoT solutions that enable businesses to monitor, connect and improve operations in some of the world's most demanding industrial environments.

As part of our continued development, we are looking for an Electronics Hardware Development Engineer to join our engineering team in Rotterdam.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with experience in electronic product development and certification to take ownership of innovative hardware solutions, particularly those designed for hazardous industrial environments.

You will play a key role in developing wireless sensing and connectivity products, ensuring electronic designs meet demanding performance, reliability and regulatory standards.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Electronics Hardware Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development and validation of electronic hardware across the full product lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing electronic hardware solutions for next-generation Industrial IoT products.
  • Designing circuit architectures and PCB layouts, using Altium for schematic capture and board development.
  • Supporting the development of intrinsically safe electronics for hazardous-area applications.
  • Contributing to ATEX / IECEx certification and ensuring products meet relevant regulatory standards.
  • Supporting wider electronics product certification requirements across European and international markets.
  • Carrying out hardware testing, verification and troubleshooting to ensure product performance and reliability.
  • Preparing technical reports, test documentation and engineering records.
  • Managing design documentation, including bills of materials, revision control and engineering changes.
  • Working with external certification bodies and test laboratories to support product approvals.
  • Collaborating with firmware, mechanical and data engineers throughout the development process.
  • Taking responsibility for technical deliverables and, where appropriate, supporting smaller engineering projects.

What We're Looking For

You'll be an experienced electronics engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges and developing products from initial concept through to production.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • A degree-level background in Electronics Engineering or a comparable level of technical knowledge gained through experience.
  • At least four years' experience in electronics hardware design and development.
  • Experience with ATEX / IECEx or other electronics product certification processes.
  • An understanding of electronics design requirements for regulated or hazardous environments.
  • Experience using Altium for schematic design and PCB layout.
  • Knowledge of Altium 365, version control and engineering document management.
  • Strong digital electronics knowledge, with experience in analogue power and sensor circuitry.
  • Experience with hardware testing, validation and fault-finding.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within an agile, multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Importantly, ATEX / IECEx experience is highly valued. However, if you have experience managing electronics certification for the European or global market, we would also be interested in hearing from you.

Additional Experience That Would Be Beneficial

  • Low-power wireless hardware development.
  • Industrial IoT and wireless communication technologies.
  • LoRaWAN and ST / ARM microcontroller platforms.
  • Ex ma encapsulation techniques.
  • MEMS sensor integration.
  • Dutch language skills.

An interest in taking on wider technical responsibility or project coordination.

What's In It For You?

  • The opportunity to join a global engineering organisation with a strong reputation for innovation.
  • Work on specialist Industrial IoT technology with real-world industrial applications.
  • Exposure to challenging electronics design and international certification projects.
  • A collaborative and supportive engineering environment.
  • Hybrid working based at IMI TWTG in Rotterdam.
  • Salary of up to €80,000 per annum, plus an annual discretionary bonus.
  • Opportunities for continued professional development and career growth.

Ready for Your Next Challenge?

If you have a background in electronics hardware development and experience with ATEX / IECEx or international product certification, we'd love to hear from you.

This is an opportunity to bring your technical expertise into an innovative engineering environment, working on products that help shape the future of industrial connectivity.
