๐Do you want to work for an International Service Delivery Center in Spain as an Embedded Firmware Architect?
You will develop and improve embedded firmware in C and C++, working mainly on bare-metal ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers. Together with electronics and other engineering colleagues, you will turn product requirements into working functionality, investigate issues on real hardware and verify that your changes behave as intended.
Understand the signal. Find the cause. Make the instrument work reliably.
An unexpected measurement can come from the sensor, the electronics, the timing or the firmware. If you enjoy following that trail from code to hardware, this role could suit you. At ERNI, you will work with a customer developing instruments for vacuum measurement, leak detection and process control. Your firmware will connect the physical measurement to the behavior of the instrument.
What you will bring ๐ค
Bachelorโs degree in Software/Electrical Engineering or a related field
Professional experience developing embedded firmware, with strong C skills and practical experience using C++
Experience working directly with microcontrollers and bare-metal firmware, including peripherals, interrupts and timing constraints
The ability to investigate hardware-software issues using a debugger, schematics and measurement equipment
A disciplined approach to testing, code review and version control
German & English skills that allow you to discuss technical problems and collaborate with international colleagues
Experience with ARM Cortex-M is particularly relevant. If you have worked with another microcontroller family, explain what you developed and how closely you worked with the hardware.
You will be responsible for
Developing firmware for sensor interfaces, instrument functions and communication with connected systems
Bringing up and debugging hardware with electronics engineers, using schematics, datasheets and lab measurements
Extending existing firmware as well as implementing new functionality
Building tests that make changes easier to verify and faults easier to reproduce
Investigating issues found during development, production or use in the field
The technical environment includes STM32-class microcontrollers, peripheral interfaces such as SPI, IยฒC and UART, and communication protocols such as CAN and Modbus. The interfaces you work with will depend on the instrument.
What if the project ends? ๐
We work on a wide variety of projects, technologies, and sectors, allowing you to keep growing in different environments. If a project ends or you feel ready for a new challenge, weโll find another one that aligns with your professional development.
