The Team and the opportunity
Reporting to the Employee Relations Director, you will provide a proactive, specialist, end-to-end employee relations service to one or more business lines. You will help EY achieve fair, respectful and consistent people outcomes while managing employment, legal and reputational risk.
Working closely with the Strategic Talent Partner (STP) team, you will own Employee Relations matters from initial triage through to resolution, combining high-quality case management with manager coaching, capability building, reporting and early intervention.
You will build trusted relationships across your service line, improve the consistency and timeliness of outcomes, strengthen manager confidence and turn case insights into practical actions that reduce recurring issues.

The Team and the opportunity
Reporting to the Employee Relations Director, you will provide a proactive, specialist, end-to-end employee relations service to one or more business lines. You will help EY achieve fair, respectful and consistent people outcomes while managing employment, legal and reputational risk.

You will build trusted relationships across your service line, improve the consistency and timeliness of outcomes, strengthen manager confidence and turn case insights into practical actions that reduce recurring issues.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Build a deep understanding of the assigned service line or service lines, including their people priorities, operating environment and emerging Employee Relations risks.
- Triage and manage a varied portfolio of Employee Relations matters from initial assessment to resolution, including performance improvement, conduct, disciplinary matters, grievances, dignity at work, absence, occupational health, reasonable accommodations, probation, conflict resolution and employment exits.
- Coordinate fair, prompt and impartial workplace investigations and formal hearings, including defining the scope and terms of reference, briefing senior stakeholders appointed to chair the process, and supporting the preparation and maintenance of documentation from initiation through to findings, outcomes and appeals.
- Provide clear, pragmatic and consistent advice to partners, leaders, managers and STPs, balancing employee experience, business context, policy, Irish employment law, fair procedures and risk.
- Coach managers through difficult conversations, informal resolution, performance improvement, conflict management and formal processes, while retaining appropriate accountability with the business.
- Coordinate input from Employment Counsel, Occupational Health, Reward, Data Privacy, HR Operations and other specialists, and support organisational change, restructuring, consultation and collective processes when required.
- Maintain accurate, complete, timely and confidential case records, actions and outcomes in line with data-protection, records-management and case-governance requirements; monitor progress and keep stakeholders appropriately informed.
- Produce regular service-line reporting on case volumes, themes, outcomes, timeliness and risk, using clear measures and insights to support informed decisions.
- Design and deliver practical briefings, training, toolkits and case-based learning for leaders, managers, STPs and HR colleagues.
- Contribute to Employee Relations strategy and projects, policy and process reviews, employment-law and case-law updates, service improvements, and the effective and responsible use of case-management and digital technology.
- Where appropriate, support preparation for and representation at external forums, including the Workplace Relations Commission and Labour Court, in partnership with Employment Counsel and senior Employee Relations colleagues.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- Substantial employee relations or HR experience in a complex, fast-paced and matrixed organisation, with evidence of operating as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders.
- A proven record of independently managing complex, sensitive and high-risk casework and investigations, applying sound judgement and escalating appropriately.
- Strong working knowledge of Irish employment and equality law, Workplace Relations Commission Codes of Practice, fair procedures and Employee Relations good practice, with the ability to translate these into clear, practical advice.
- Strong stakeholder-management, influencing, coaching, facilitation, investigation, report-writing and analytical skills, including confidence working with senior leaders.
- The ability to prioritise a demanding caseload, handle sensitive information with discretion, remain objective under pressure and deliver fair, timely outcomes.
