About Neathouse Partners

Neathouse Partners provides fixed-fee employment law, HR and health and safety support to businesses across the UK.

We work with organisations of all sizes, delivering clear, practical and commercially focused advice that helps employers manage workplace issues with confidence.

Unlike traditional legal environments, our consultants aren't expected to generate fees or meet billing targets. Instead, they can focus on providing excellent advice and building strong client relationships.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an Employment Lawyer with 1–3 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) to join our growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys advising employers, managing a varied caseload and providing practical solutions to employment law challenges.

You'll work directly with clients on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, taking responsibility for your own workload while benefiting from the support of an experienced legal team.

The role is based in Chester, although hybrid and fully remote working arrangements will be considered for suitable candidates.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing day-to-day employment law advice to employers across a variety of sectors.
  • Managing your own caseload and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Advising on disciplinary procedures, grievances, sickness absence, performance management and dismissals.
  • Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, settlement agreements, workplace policies, staff handbooks and HR correspondence.
  • Advising on redundancy, TUPE, discrimination, unfair dismissal and other employee relations matters.
  • Identifying potential legal risks and recommending practical, commercially appropriate solutions.
  • Keeping up to date with employment law developments and advising clients on their implications.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in hearing from Employment Lawyers with 1–3 years' PQE who have:

  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Experience advising employers on contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills.
  • The confidence to manage client relationships and their own caseload.
  • A practical, commercially minded approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

We will also consider applications from:

  • CILEX-qualified professionals with appropriate employment law knowledge and advisory experience.
  • Experienced HR Consultants with a minimum of six years' relevant experience, including substantial experience providing employment law advice to employers.

For HR Consultant applicants, a strong understanding of employment legislation, employment law procedures and complex employee relations matters is essential.

What We Offer

  • Salary of up to £45,000 depending on experience.
  • No billing targets or business development requirements.
  • Hybrid and remote working arrangements considered.
  • Optional private medical insurance following successful completion of probation.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.
  • Support from an experienced and approachable legal team.
  • A genuine focus on work-life balance.
  • Opportunities for career progression as the business continues to grow.

Why Join Us?

At Neathouse Partners, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of employment law matters without the billing pressures commonly associated with private practice.

You'll have the opportunity to manage your own clients, develop your expertise and work within a collaborative team that values practical advice and professional development.

Whether you're an Employment Lawyer looking for a change from traditional legal practice, a CILEX-qualified professional or an experienced HR Consultant with substantial employment law expertise, we'd welcome your application.

How to Apply

Please submit your CV outlining your relevant employment law experience and qualifications.

We welcome applications from Employment Lawyers with 1–3 years' PQE, CILEX-qualified professionals and HR Consultants with at least six years' relevant experience.
