Join Our Team: Employment Paralegal We’re excited to welcome a new Employment Paralegal to join our Legal directorate. Navigate your future and lock in your career as we keep our canals open and alive. Working Hours & Location This role follows 37 hours, Monday to Friday working pattern. Flexible working arrangements will be considered. The vacancy will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required. Role Overview Supporting the legal team in the effective and efficient conduct of employment related legal matters within the Trust. Key Responsibilities Support the Senior Employment Lawyer with a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters. Draft standard documentation such as employment contracts, policy documents and letters under supervision. Assist with Employment Tribunal case preparation, including document review and filing deadlines. Monitor progress of legal matters and liaise with internal stakeholders and external solicitors as required. Maintain accurate legal files and records using document management systems. Undertake legal research. Build and maintaining a precedent library. Assist with administrative duties including scheduling meetings, managing diaries, and preparing meeting summaries. Support other senior lawyers in the team as required. Work in accordance with the legal team support framework in delivery of legal advice to the wider Trust teams. Ensure compliance with team procedures, confidentiality obligations, and data protection requirements About you You’ll have experience of working as a paralegal in the field of employment, regulatory law or commercial litigation. Detail-oriented and proactive, with excellent organisational and communication skills, you’re comfortable building relationships, managing multiple deadlines and handling confidential information with professionalism. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office and digital systems, with a client-focused approach and the ability to support a wide range of legal activities. Desirable: Legal qualification (or working towards one) and familiarity with Employment Tribunal processes and employment law. You’ll also be committed to upholding safe, compliant working practices. Skills & Qualifications Essential: Paralegal or legal advisor experience, specialising in employment law or other transferable practice area Excellent written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and organisational ability Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems Professional and client-focused approach Commitment to ethical, safe and inclusive working practices Desirable: Law degree, GDL, LPC/SQE preparation, or equivalent legal qualification or experience Familiarity with Employment Tribunal or other legal procedures Understanding of UK employment legislation Experience drafting legal documents We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient suitable applications for the role.
