About the Role
Build and lead an employment practice at a sophisticated Los Angeles law firm. The role combines California employer-side counseling and litigation with opportunities to support corporate and real estate transactions and grow client relationships.
What You'll Do
Develop and lead an employment practice, drawing on referrals from corporate, real estate, and litigation teams.
Advise employers on California wage and hour compliance, handbooks, policies, reductions in force, and executive and separation agreements.
Defend single-plaintiff employment claims and handle wage and hour class actions and representative actions under the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).
Support transactions with employment diligence, executive compensation advice, and post-closing integration work.
Originate client relationships, develop business, and mentor associates as the practice grows.
What We're Looking For
8 to 20 years of California employment law experience, including defense-side counseling and litigation.
Active California State Bar membership and a JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
A verifiable portable book of business, with at least $350,000 sought and $500,000 or more preferred.
Business development experience and a record of client origination.
First- or second-chair trial experience, or experience with class actions and PAGA matters.
Transactional experience, an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach, and interest in building or leading a practice.
Experience in a hybrid work arrangement and a background at a reputable law firm are valued.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $200,000 to $230,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Location
Hybrid, with two days per week in the office in Culver City, California. Candidates should be based in or willing to relocate to the Los Angeles area.
