Level: Senior Employment type: Full time and permanent About the role Power is our largest input cost and the binding constraint on how fast we grow. As Energy Procurement Specialist, Nordics you own how we buy it: origination and negotiation of PPAs, the mix of fixed and floating volume across tenors, and the commercial position that sits behind our Finnish and Nordic capacity. This is a commercial, market facing role rather than a contract administration one. Your mandate is to buy power better than we would otherwise buy it, structure the portfolio so we are protected when the market moves against us and exposed when it moves for us, and stay close enough to the market to see both coming. Your responsibilities Own Verda's Nordic power position outright: what we have contracted, at what price, over what horizon, and what we do next. Run PPAs end to end, from origination and counterparty selection through structuring, negotiation and close, and own the commercial relationship afterwards. You lead the negotiation rather than support it. Set portfolio strategy across the full product set: financial and physical PPAs, baseload volume and the premium attached to it, profiled and shaped products, and spot exposure across available tenors. Decide the mix, defend it, and adjust it as the market moves. Manage price and risk: know what we are paying, what we are committed to, how the position behaves under a range of market scenarios, and what we would do in each case. Build and hold direct relationships with utilities, generators, developers and trading desks in the Nordics, where much of the value comes from seeing the opportunity first. Convert our data centre build out into a long term procurement plan with Construction, Site Acquisition and Finance, and feed your market read into wider commercial and policy work. Make the calls inside an approved mandate: which counterparties we transact with, how much load is fixed versus floating, what we pay for certainty, and where we take market risk instead. Your key competencies We are looking for someone who has bought power for a living inside the Nordic market, has personally led deals rather than reviewed them, and is comfortable being handed a greenfield mandate with no existing portfolio or playbook. Five years or more of practical power procurement, origination or trading experience. A track record of negotiating and closing PPAs or long term power contracts you personally led, with volumes, structures and outcomes you can talk through in detail. Nordic market experience built inside the market, typically from a major utility, a generator, or a power trading and origination desk. Finnish market experience is essential, as is an established local counterparty network. Trading fluency: spot and forward pricing, price areas, baseload versus profile, the premium structure on fixed volumes, hedging instruments, and how a counterparty prices the risk they are taking from you. Commercial independence. You have sat across the table from a sophisticated counterparty and held your position. Fluent Finnish and English. Nice to have Experience procuring power for a data centre or another large industrial load. Exposure to renewable project development and to the developer side of a PPA. Coverage of a second Nordic or European market. Experience building a procurement function rather than operating inside an established one.
