We are seeking an enthusiastic engineer looking to dedicate their passion for game development to tackling a wide range of engineering problems, from gameplay systems to rendering performance improvements. You will enjoy collaboration with others, and the power of different disciplines combining to become greater than the sum of their parts.

This is a full time, maximum term, 18 month contract position with the possibility of ongoing employment, though make no mistake, you will be a critical part of the LoG family.

Requirements:
- 5+ years role-relevant professional experience working on commercially released videogame/s.
- Videogame development experience using C++ in Unreal Engine.
- Experience in designing, implementing and optimising rendering systems for performance, memory efficiency, and scalability across PC and console hardware.
- Confident knowledge of coding processes, standards and methodologies, and demonstrable ability to architect and implement clean and concise APIs.
- Knowledge of the game development process from start to finish.
- Excellent communication, creative collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Attentive to detail, thorough and shows strong game design sensibilities.
- A commitment to working in a professional, inclusive and supportive environment.
- Ability to work independently; managing time, task lists and workflow with ease.
- A passion for motivating, inspiring, mentoring and educating your fellow team members.
Responsibilities:
As an engineer here at League of Geeks, you will…
- Implement game features and integrate engine features as needed to support desired gameplay
- Ensure features work on multiple platforms.
- Work independently to complete assigned projects with limited supervision.
- Contribute your experience to continuously improving the Engineering department ensuring its following best practice of work methodology, communication and culture.
- Collaborate with others on the team to design and build features and architectures for new systems, and maintain and improve those of current systems.
- Identify, call out, and fix workflow, pipeline and technology problems.
- Rewrite existing systems as directed for increased functionality, reduced memory usage, and increased performance.
- Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with programs.
- Profiling and debugging CPU and GPU workloads to reduce hitching and ensure performance budgets are met on PC and console hardware.
- Document technology implementation details.
- Mentor more junior engineers.
- Remain up to date on cutting edge tech relevant to your area of expertise.

Important Stuff:
- Remuneration on offer (excluding benefits such as superannuation) is between $90k - $120k p.a AUD, pro rata as per the length of the contract term. Remuneration is dependent on experience and expertise of the applicant.
- We are currently working under a work-from-home model, and plan on returning to our Melbourne studio in October 2026
-- Return to studio will be three days in-studio, two days optional WFH.
-- Until our return to studio, this role can be held remotely (Australia only)
