Quality Assurance Engineer II

UDR, Inc. | Highlands Ranch, CO | Full-Time | Hybrid

About UDR, Inc.

UDR, Inc. (NYSE: UDR), an S&P 500 company, is a leading multifamily real estate investment trust with a demonstrated history of delivering long-term value through the management, acquisition, development, and redevelopment of apartment communities across some of the nation’s most desirable markets.

At UDR, technology plays an important role in how we operate, make decisions, and continue evolving our business. Our teams are modernizing the way data is structured, tested, and used across the organization — and we’re looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer II who wants to be part of building what comes next.

About the Role

As a Quality Assurance Engineer II, you’ll play an important role in the testing phase of our software development process, helping ensure our products are functional, reliable, and aligned with both business requirements and the expectations of our end users.

This role will have meaningful exposure to UDR’s evolving data environment, including Snowflake, backend data validation, APIs, integrations, and test automation. You’ll partner closely with developers, product owners, business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders while taking increasing ownership of testing strategy for the features and projects you support.

We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical fundamentals, curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to independently move work forward while remaining a collaborative member of the team.

What You’ll Do

  • Interface with business analysts, product owners, or stakeholders to understand the underlying business problem being solved, the product feature being delivered, and the individual stories/requirements involved.

  • Develop procedures and test software features. Provide a specification for any data required to create necessary scenarios.

  • Record the outcomes of tests in Zephyr and include relevant evidence to support the story or requirement.

  • Create software bugs when necessary. Identify and develop the steps, expected behavior, observed behavior, and any supporting documentation.

  • Prepare and present findings and recommendations to project team(s), including developers, scrum masters, and/or project managers, both in summary and detailed forms depending on the needed level of detail.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other internal teams and coordinate with third-party contractors or vendors as needed, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Design and execute SQL queries to validate backend data integrity and consistency, including within cloud-native data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake.

  • Validate data movement and integrity across ETL/ELT pipelines feeding into or out of Snowflake, performing source-to-target reconciliation between upstream systems and the warehouse.

  • Apply working knowledge of Snowflake concepts, including virtual warehouses, roles/RBAC, schemas, and compute vs. storage separation, to test data access controls and query behavior.

  • Perform API testing using tools like Postman or similar tools to verify backend services and integrations, including REST/JSON payload and schema/contract validation.

  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for backend validation.

  • Create and manage more complex tasks and test plans with little need for support from senior team members and management.

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright or similar frameworks to expand regression coverage and reduce manual testing effort.

  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate test case generation, automation script development, and test data pipeline work.

  • Participate in grooming ceremonies, giving feedback on requirements and acceptance criteria.

  • Design test plans, anticipate potential scenarios, and develop effective strategies for new feature implementations.

  • Design, develop, and implement test strategies using UiPath to optimize software testing processes.

  • Identify roadblocks, issues, or challenges that arise during the project and work with the project team to remediate and resolve those issues and challenges.

  • Identify key testing scenarios and automation candidates that contribute to regression test planning and successful software releases.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Technology Management, Business Administration, or related discipline is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Minimum of four to five years of related experience is required.

  • Prior experience within the real estate or hospitality industry is preferred, or equivalent combination of experience within industry and emerging technologies.

  • Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall environments is required.

  • Provides guidance and support to other team members.

  • Excellent experience with MS Office skills, especially Excel.

  • Intermediate understanding of SQL databases and API development; demonstrated work experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud-native data platform required.

  • Demonstrated work experience with test automation frameworks such as Playwright or similar frameworks, including Cypress or Selenium, is required.

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development/testing tools is required.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,879.00-$101,034.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity.

  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Associate apartment discounts
  • Professional development and career growth opportunities

This position follows a flexible hybrid schedule based out of UDR's Highlands Ranch, Colorado corporate office
