We are seeking a highly motivated Engineer, Network Operations to join our Operation Center within Global Infrastructure Operations in Oslo, Norway.
The IT Infrastructure Operations (TCIOS) department is responsible for ensuring the stable, secure, and efficient operation of Statkraft's global IT services around the clock, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our responsibilities span daily operations, service reliability, continuous improvement initiatives, and lifecycle management of critical infrastructure and applications.
We are seeking a Engineer, Network Operations to join and strengthen our Operations Center team within Global Infrastructure Operations. In this role, you will work in a dynamic, collaborative, and technology-driven environment, helping to ensure the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of Statkraft’s global network infrastructure.
This position is ideal for a network professional with a solid technical foundation, a passion for networking technologies, and a strong desire to further develop their expertise in a global enterprise environment. As part of the Operations Center, you will play a key role in monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting business-critical network services while contributing to operational excellence and service reliability across our worldwide operations.
In your role you will:
- Monitor, operate, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, including routing, switching, wireless, WAN, and connectivity-related issues.
- Perform proactive monitoring, analysis, and remediation of network alerts and service degradations.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and service providers to ensure timely resolution of operational issues.
- Escalate complex incidents and coordinate with subject matter experts when required.
- Contribute to network lifecycle activities, including upgrades, maintenance, and infrastructure improvements.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and technical procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance network stability, security, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes in accordance with ITIL best practices.
- Provide operational support for global network services within a 24/7 operational environment.
- Collaborate with network architects, engineering teams, cloud teams, and service providers to evaluate, implement, and optimize network solutions.
- Contribute to the automation of operational network tasks, monitoring, and remediation processes to improve efficiency and service reliability.
- Statkraft manages critical infrastructure and services in several countries. The applicant must have a valid background check conducted by Semac or an equivalent provider.
- Practical experience in configuring, operating, and troubleshooting network infrastructure and connectivity services.
- Knowledge and competence equivalent to Cisco CCNA level or higher.
- Understanding of cloud networking concepts and connectivity solutions across platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with enterprise firewall technologies, preferably including Cisco, Check Point, and Azure Firewall solutions.
- Good understanding of enterprise IT environments, including infrastructure, networks, systems, and operational processes.
- Knowledge of, or a strong interest in learning, modern infrastructure and automation technologies such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Bicep, Git, and related tooling.
- Solid understanding of network security principles, cybersecurity best practices, and operational resilience.
- Knowledge of ITIL practices and IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.
- Self-driven, motivated, and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in an environment undergoing continuous transformation and improvement.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across technical teams.
- Passion for continuous learning and staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Structured, proactive, and capable of maintaining focus in a dynamic 24/7 operational environment.
- Excellent communication skills in both Norwegian and English, written and spoken.
