Role Description The Engineering Director at Aula de Software Libre FP Córdoba will oversee software engineering initiatives, guiding technical direction and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This part-time, remote role involves managing distributed engineering teams, coordinating project delivery, and promoting best practices in software development and integration. The Engineering Director will collaborate with educators, contributors, and stakeholders to define roadmaps, prioritize features, and maintain high-quality standards for open-source and educational software projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include mentoring team members, reviewing architectural decisions and code, tracking project progress, resolving technical and organizational obstacles, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Strong engineering management and team leadership skills to guide, mentor, and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience in software development, with the ability to review code, support architectural decisions, and ensure technical quality.
  • Proficiency in project management, including planning, prioritization, resource coordination, and on-time delivery of engineering initiatives.
  • Knowledge of system and software integration, with experience aligning multiple tools, services, and platforms into cohesive solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering organizations or projects, ideally within open-source, educational, or nonprofit contexts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Comfort with agile methodologies, modern development workflows, and continuous improvement practices.
