Engineering Director

Role Description The Engineering Director is a part-time remote role responsible for overseeing the technical strategy, systems, and platforms that support the Fujairah International Orthopedic Congress. This role includes leading engineering initiatives for digital infrastructure, such as registration systems, virtual and hybrid event platforms, integrations with communication tools, and data management solutions. The Engineering Director will collaborate with the organizing and scientific committees to translate congress requirements into scalable, secure, and user-friendly technology solutions. Day-to-day tasks include managing engineering teams or vendors, prioritizing and tracking projects, ensuring system reliability and performance, and overseeing technical documentation and compliance. The role also involves continuous improvement of tools and processes to enhance participant experience, streamline operations, and support future congress growth.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Engineering Management and Team Leadership, with experience guiding cross-functional technical teams or vendors.
• Proficiency in Project Management and Integration, including coordinating multiple systems, APIs, and platforms for seamless workflows.
• Hands-on experience or strong oversight capability in Software Development, especially web-based applications, event platforms, or CRM systems.
• Proven ability to design and implement secure, scalable, and reliable technical architectures for digital or hybrid events.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a focus on user experience and operational efficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to work effectively with clinical, scientific, and administrative stakeholders.
• Experience in healthcare, medical congresses, or scientific events is an advantage.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Comfort working remotely across time zones, with strong organizational skills and self-directed work habits.
