About the company
Our client is a software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Lead and grow an engineering team that is building a brand-new service from scratch. The role blends hands-on technical guidance with people leadership, and involves working closely with cross-functional partners to turn plans into delivered work.
What you'll do
- Recruit, organize and lead engineers through the design, build and release of a new data storage service.
- Guide technical direction and architecture choices, weighing the tradeoffs that come with stateful distributed systems.
- Collaborate with product, design and infrastructure colleagues to shape a roadmap and deliver features.
- Coach engineers through hiring, ongoing feedback and performance reviews.
- Encourage accountability and steady improvement on the team while keeping delivery pace in balance with stability and quality.
What we're looking for
- At least 8 years as a practicing software engineer who has delivered products, ideally with exposure to stateful or distributed systems.
- At least 2 years managing engineers, including recruiting, coaching and handling performance.
- Enough technical depth to contribute to architecture and design discussions, acting as a player-coach instead of a purely administrative manager.
- A product mindset and a track record of shaping engineering plans around user and company priorities.
Bonus points
- Background working on developer-facing tools, cloud services or large-scale distributed systems.
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: USD 204,000 to 289,000 per year
