We're looking for an Engineering Manager - Power & Test Equipment to lead a multi-disciplinary engineering function responsible for delivering world-class Power, CAS and Test Solutions. This is a senior leadership opportunity where you'll shape engineering strategy, develop high-performing teams, and influence the successful delivery of mission-critical programmes.

The Opportunity

As Engineering Manager, you'll provide leadership across Systems, Electronics, Software, Mechanical Engineering and Test disciplines, ensuring programmes are delivered successfully from concept through to deployment and in-service support.

You'll work closely with Programme Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and Commercial teams to drive technical excellence, delivery performance and engineering capability, while serving as a key member of the engineering leadership team in Scotland.

What You'll Be Doing

Leadership & People

  • Lead, inspire and develop a diverse team of engineers and technical specialists
  • Create a values-driven culture focused on collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Coach and mentor engineers, technical leads and emerging leaders
  • Drive recruitment, retention, succession planning and career development across the engineering function

Programme & Technical Delivery

  • Provide engineering leadership across multiple programmes and product lines
  • Act as the key escalation point for technical, resource and programme challenges
  • Ensure the successful development, delivery and lifecycle support of Power and Test Equipment solutions
  • Support product transition into manufacturing and long-term sustainment

Stakeholder & Business Leadership

  • Partner with Senior Leadership, Programme Management and Functional Leaders to align priorities and resources
  • Present programme status, risks, opportunities and strategic capability requirements to senior stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships with customers and cross-functional teams to drive successful outcomes
  • Contribute to engineering strategy, technology roadmaps and organisational capability planning

Operational Excellence

  • Drive improvements in engineering processes, tools and ways of working
  • Manage engineering resources, budgets and investment priorities
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and Service teams to optimise product performance and customer satisfaction

What You'll Bring

Essential Experience

Proven experience leading engineering teams delivering complex power, test equipment or mission-critical products

Strong track record of building high-performing teams and positive engineering cultures

Experience leading within a matrix organisation and influencing senior stakeholders

Solid understanding of systems engineering, product development lifecycles and design assurance

Broad technical knowledge across:

  • Systems Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Software Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Reliability Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering

Experience managing engineering resources across multiple concurrent programmes

Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills

Proven ability to develop, coach and mentor engineering talent

Commercial and financial awareness, including budget ownership and resource planning.


Desirable Experience

  • Aerospace, defence, power systems, test equipment or other highly regulated industries
  • Knowledge of military, aerospace or industry engineering standards
  • Experience leading engineering transformation, organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives

Work Culture

For this role the successful hire will need to be a permanent UK resident and successfully complete a baseline (BPSS) security and background check.


This position is classified as:

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead project teams.
