About us

Risk Ledger is developing a network of connected organisations, all working together to defend against cybersecurity attacks in the supply chain.

Organisations rely on us to establish trust, through sharing their security maturity and visualising the risks posed by their supply chain ecosystem. And we’re already trusted by customers like British Airways, BAE Systems and the NHS.

We are putting together an amazing and talented team from a diverse set of backgrounds and skillsets to drive us towards our vision. Risk Ledger is built on the respect we have for one another and our users, united by our shared values and mission.

Every one of us is still learning: it’s how we grow as individuals. We’re curious. We’re ambitious. And we’re humble and honest. At Risk Ledger, we aim high to find the best solutions we can and always put our users first.

The role

You’ll lead Enablement, our platform group, which owns the infrastructure, delivery pipelines and reliability practices every engineering team builds on. You’ll also work closely with Expansion, the group building new features and product specs, so the platform speeds up feature delivery and product ambitions are grounded in what the platform can safely support.

Our core stack is Go, AWS and Vue.js, built cloud-native with modern design principles.

What you’ll do

Platform strategy and delivery

  • Set technical direction and a roadmap for platform, DevOps and SRE work, and prioritise it against feature demand.
  • Treat the platform as a product: understand what internal teams need, measure adoption and satisfaction, and invest where it removes the most friction.
  • Improve CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code and developer tooling to cut lead times and operational toil.
  • Make sound trade-offs on scalability, security, cost and resilience in AWS, and own the platform’s cloud spend.

Reliability and operations

  • Own SLOs, error budgets and observability across the platform and the services that run on it.
  • Lead incident response and on-call practices, and run blameless post-incident reviews that lead to real change.
  • Build security-minded design into platform defaults, working with security and compliance, which matters given the sensitive data our customers entrust to us.

Working with Product and Expansion

  • Partner with the Expansion team lead and Product Managers so platform capacity and constraints are visible in planning.
  • Balance technical investment against new build, and communicate trade-offs on capacity and risk clearly to senior and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Use team charters (Team APIs) to define Enablement’s mission, interaction modes and boundaries with stream-aligned teams.

People and leadership

  • Coach and develop engineers, and build a culture of constructive feedback and psychological safety.
  • Lead hiring and retention for platform and SRE roles.
  • Lead complex cross-team projects such as migrations and platform changes, and guide teams through technical and organisational change.
  • Work with the Head of Engineering and Principal Engineers to mature engineering practices across technology, people and process.

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • Hands-on experience in platform engineering, DevOps or SRE, including running production systems at scale.
  • Strong production experience with AWS and Kubernetes/Docker.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience (for example Terraform or CloudFormation) and modern CI/CD practice.
  • Experience owning reliability: incident management, SLOs, observability, performance and capacity planning.
  • Security-minded design and a working understanding of cloud security and compliance.
  • Solid grounding in relational databases (Postgres/SQL) and asynchronous messaging.
  • Enough familiarity with Go and our wider stack to engage credibly in design reviews.
  • A track record of managing engineers or teams, ideally platform or infrastructure teams.
  • Clear communication with senior and non-technical stakeholders on capacity, constraints and risk.
  • Motivation by the growth and success of your people.

Desirable

  • Experience treating a platform as an internal product, with measurable developer-experience outcomes.
  • Familiarity with Team Topologies and the DORA metrics.
  • Experience working with Product on prioritisation across both platform and feature work.

The perks:

  • 💰Competitive base salary
  • 📈Generous EMI equity package
  • 👌Private pension
  • ✈️28 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • 🏖Additional 30 days of unpaid leave per year to use as you wish
  • 🎆Ad-hoc companywide time off over the festive period
  • 🏥Private healthcare with AXA Insurance - including enhanced mental wellbeing coverage
  • 🏠Hybrid working policy, typically 2-3 days in the office
  • 👶Enhanced family (parental) leave - gender-neutral policy, 12 weeks paid leave
  • 👪5 days Caretaker's leave
  • 😷Enhanced occupational sick pay
  • 💻£500 WFH budget
  • 📚All the learning resources and books you want to aid in your personal development
  • 🎉 Regular socials to unwind and have some fun
