Job Description
You don’t see it, but it’s there. Our engineers work on the world’s most advanced defense and aerospace systems — from autonomous mission capabilities to secure communication systems. At BAE Systems, we innovate for those who protect us and those who move the world forward.

We are seeking an Engineering Process Architect to lead the model‑based design, mapping, and modernization of engineering processes. This role is central to building a future engineering operating system in which compliance is inherent, workflows are digital and automated, and engineering knowledge is captured in durable, reusable models.

As the Process Architect, you will integrate deep MBSE expertise with engineering process transformation to model current‑state processes, architect future‑state digital workflows, and align engineering work to the company’s standard WBS, applicable DoD frameworks, and regulatory requirements. Your work will directly accelerate modernization objectives, including process simplification, WBS crosswalk development, and early AI‑enabled pilots for process analysis. This is a high‑impact role for a technically strong systems engineer who can think in models, architect processes, and collaborate across engineering, quality, program management, operations, and digital transformation teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build structured SysML/UML models of engineering processes, artifacts, data flows, and WBS relationships.
  • Develop modeling strategies that represent required controls, approvals, and interfaces.
  • Architect simplified, requirements-based engineering processes with clear cross-functional dependencies.
  • Support governance initiatives including metrics, process interpretation, and improvement actions.
  • Develop model-based mappings between engineering processes and the company’s standard WBS.
  • Support AI-assisted pilots for process-content classification and workflow modernization.
  • Contribute to audit readiness, corrective action activities, and compliance governance.
  • Partner with engineering, quality, program management, and digital engineering teams to drive adoption.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Apply now and propel your career into a future.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Must currently possess an active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 10+ years of experience
  • 5+ years of MBSE modeling experience using SysML, Cameo/MagicDraw, UML, or UAF
  • Demonstrated experience modeling systems, processes, or architectures
  • Experience supporting engineering processes, audits, or compliance frameworks
  • Strong communication and ability to lead cross-functional transformation initiatives

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Advanced degree or MBSE-related certification
  • Experience with digital engineering and workflow design
  • Familiarity with AS9100, CMMI, and MIL‑STD‑881E
  • Experience with AI/ML conceptual applications in engineering workflows
