About the team

ATOSS Time Control (ATC) is our cloud workforce management solution for small and mid-sized businesses. The ATC engineering team builds and runs it, and is moving to an AI-driven development lifecycle (AIDLC), where AI agents take on more of the specification, build, and test work, guided and reviewed by engineers

The role

As Engineering Team Lead for ATC, you lead a team of engineers that builds AI-first workforce management software for small and mid-sized businesses. You are responsible for your people, for how the team delivers, and for taking the team to an AI-driven way of building software.

• Lead and grow your team – hire, coach, and retain engineers, hold regular 1:1s and development conversations, and build a culture of ownership, trust, and accountability.
• Drive AIDLC in your team – move the team from AI-assisted coding to AI-driven delivery: spec-driven development, AI agents that build and test, and clear human-in-the-loop review. Measure the impact and share what works with other teams.
• Run strong Agile delivery – together with the Product Owner, keep the backlog healthy, make sprint planning reliable, run reviews and retrospectives that lead to real change, and make release commitments the team can keep.
• Own technical quality – guide architecture and design decisions for ATC components and keep the code base maintainable, secure, and well tested (Java).
• Raise engineering standards – strengthen code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation so the team can ship often and with confidence.
• Partner across ATOSS – work with Product Management, Security, Operations, and engineering teams in Germany and other locations to deliver the ATC roadmap, including cloud and AI features.
• Manage with data – use delivery and quality metrics such as sprint predictability, cycle time, and defect rates to spot problems early and improve continuously.

What you bring

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with a track record of delivering complex, high-quality software.
• 3+ years leading an engineering team as Team Lead or Engineering Manager, with full people responsibility (hiring, performance reviews, development).
• Strong hands-on background in Java or another object-oriented language, you can review code and challenge designs.
• Practical experience with AI in software development – you have introduced AI coding assistants or agents in a team and can show how they changed the way the team works and what it delivers.
• Deep, practical experience with Agile and Scrum – you have measurably improved a team's delivery predictability, not only run the ceremonies.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD (e.g. GitLab CI) and test automation.
• Experience with cloud environments and SaaS products.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills in English, German is a plus.
• Nice to have: experience in B2B SaaS or workforce management / HR software.
