Engineering Team Leader (Onsite Hanoi)

We’re looking for a team leader who can lead a cross-functional team of Developers, QA/Testers, and Designers to deliver high-quality products efficiently.

You’re comfortable with evolving requirements, can align the team around product goals, make informed decisions, and balance delivery timelines with product quality. Beyond delivery, you take ownership of team performance, develop people, and continuously improve how the team works.

You’ll do

1. Team Leadership & Delivery Ownership

• Lead a cross-functional product team of Developers, QA/Testers, and Designers, fostering collaboration, accountability, and shared ownership.
• Own end-to-end delivery, from requirement clarification and solution planning to development, testing, release, and post-release improvement.
• Work closely with Product Managers (PMs) and stakeholders to align on product goals, priorities, scope, and business requirements.
• Break down complex requirements into clear, actionable tasks and ensure the team understands expected outcomes before development begins.
• Make timely decisions and trade-offs to balance business needs, product quality, technical constraints, and delivery timelines.

• 2. Technical & Product Quality
• Challenge unclear requirements and identify potential risks, dependencies, and technical issues early in the development process.
• Work with Developers to evaluate technical solutions, architecture, and trade-offs related to performance, scalability, maintainability, and complexity.
• Collaborate with QA/Testers to establish effective testing practices, maintain product quality, and ensure sufficient test coverage.
• Partner with Designers to translate product requirements into practical, consistent, and user-friendly experiences.
• Lead root-cause analysis of production incidents and recurring issues, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.

• 3. People Development & Continuous Improvement
• Mentor and coach team members to strengthen their technical capabilities, problem-solving skills, and professional growth.
• Identify bottlenecks and continuously improve development workflows, team collaboration, and delivery efficiency.
• Communicate delivery progress, risks, key decisions, and team performance clearly to relevant stakeholders.

You Have

Main Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software/product development.
• 2+ years of experience in a leadership role such as Team Lead, Tech Lead, Engineering Lead, or equivalent.
• Proven experience leading a cross-functional product/software development team.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, from requirement analysis to production release.
• Good technical background and ability to understand and evaluate technical solutions, architecture, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good understanding of Agile/Scrum or similar software development methodologies.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance business requirements, product quality, technical constraints, and delivery timelines.

• Preferred
• Experience working with SaaS, eCommerce, or consumer-facing products.
• Experience with AI/LLM-powered products or AI Agent systems is a strong plus.
• Experience with performance optimization, infrastructure optimization, or cost optimization is a plus.
